ANNUAL NORTHAMPTON TOWN LEAGUE  6-A-SIDE COMPETITION                             SPONSORED BY CHRONICLE & ECHO   The 16th . Northampton Town League Annual 6-A-Side tournament will take place at the Spencer Football Club’s ground, on Saturday 2nd July 2011, once again sponsored by the Chronicle & Echo. Town League Round Up 7/05/2011

NORTHAMPTON F.A. GORELL BARNES CUP FINAL

F.C.Crispin surprised A.F.C.Wombles in the Gorell Barnes Cup final inflicting a 1-0 defeat on the hot favourites with a well taken goal from Andy Eaton a minute befor the interval. Early in the game Crispin were reduced to ten men after their skipper Fowkes was sent off following his second yellow card. In the second half Wombles also had a player dismissed but this seemed to inspire them and they pushed hard for an equaliser however the Crispins defence and keeper Paul Crick stood sound and earned a hard fought victory. Northants F.A. Chief Executive Kevin Shoemake presented the Cup at the conclusion of the match.

N.B.C.Cup Final

Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves turned the form book upside down with an unlikely 1-0 Cup Final triumph over Division One Champions Mereway United. Luke Churchill fired home for Orchard Park in the 39th minute and this lone goal proved the difference between the teams. Mereway had a goal disallowed in the second period and were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes but the Leagues top marksman Gareth Errington saw his spot kick saved by Orchards goal keeper Kyle Goodman to enable his team to lift the Cup.

Town League Cup Final

A.F.C. Wombles won the Town League Knock -Out Cup with a 3-0 success over Denton at Spencer F.C. Ace marksman Jamie Ellis was on top form as he grabbed a super hat-trick to help Wombles to victory. Denton refused to be overwhelmed and played some good football right up to the final whistle but their forwards were firing blanks on the night. Town League secretary Mr. Don Welch presented the trophies to the teams after

PREMIER DIVISION

Delapre Old Boys finished Runners Up for the second year on the trot after beating F.C.Crispin 3-1. A goal a-piece from Martin Stones, Alex Seaton and Martin Feasey put Delapre in the driving seat before the evergreen Wayne Cockerill pulled one back for Crispin.

If Delapre had slipped up both Denton and A.F.C. Wombles who were locking horns at Abington Park, could have overtaken them however they drew there game 2-2. Denton raced into a 2-0 half time lead courtesy of goals from Robbie O’Neill and Steven Moss but Wombles fought back with strikes from Jamie Ellis and Mark Cahill.

Mid-week matches

Denton just edged out F.C.Crispin by the odd goal in three with ace marksman Robbie O’Neill grabbing a twosome for the villagers while Crispins retort came via Chris Mann.

DIVISION ONE

Harborough Town ‘A’ held Northampton Harlequins Reserves to a 2-2 stalemate. Steff Chambers and Shane Ranft hit the target for the Quins second string while Matt Ogley and Jordan Hamilton did likewise for Harboropugh. Thorplands Club 81 eased to a 3-0 victory over Obelisk United thanks to a double strike from James Morgan and a solo effort from James Elkington.

Mid-week matches

Harborough Town ‘A’ coasted to a 4-0 triumph over West Haddon Reserves with Barnes Gladman and Joe Wright both netting twice for Town. In a dour battle dominated by both defences, Harlequins Reserves and Thorplands Club 81 couldn’t be separated in a goaless draw.

TOWN LEAGUE CUP FINAL

Wednesday 4th May A.F.C.Wombles take on Denton in the Town League Knock Out Cup Final at Spencer F.C. with a 7.30 pm kick off. It will be both teams first appearance in the final so a new name on the Trophy is ensured. Entrance will be £3 and £1 concessions.

The Eleanor Cleaning Services, April Ball of the Month winners are Town League Cup finalists A.F.C.Wombles who scored 18 goals in the month of April.

‘MANAGER OF THE MONTH’ FOR MARCH

The Manager of the Month for April is Jason Vye the manager of Division One outfit Harborough Town ’A’ who guided his team to two victories, two draws and two defeats during the Month beating Thorplands Club 81 3-2 and West Haddon Reserves 4-0, drawing with Spinney Hill 1-1 and Harlequins Reserves 2-2, losing to Mereway United and James King Blisworth ‘A’.

Premier Division
Newly crowned Premier Division Champions Northampton Harlequins showed their supremecy as they beat A.F.C.Wombles 2-0 courtesy of a goal a-piece from Andy Condon and Jake Nagy. SPA and F.C.Crispin fought
 out a 2-2 stalemate with Johnny Madeiros and Chris Norman both getting on the score sheet for SPA while Andy Eaton and Richard Wilson did likewise for Crispin.
Division One
Harborough Town 'A' got the better of Thorplands Club 81 by 3-2. Ross Digby hit the target twice for Harborough and James Long one. On Thursday Division One Champions Mereway United made the journey to
 Harborough Town 'A' and came away with a 4-2 victory.Mereway's goals were shared between Gareth Errington, Anthony Broadbelt, Michael Dunkley and Wayne Leader while Barnes Gladman and Jason Vye netted
 Towns retort.  

Wombles and Denton Reach League Cup Final!

League Cup Semi-final

In an amazing Cup tie A.F.C.Wombles eventually made it through to the League Cup final at the expense of a very valiant Rosebery Rangers side,Wombles came from being 2-0 down to 5-5 after 90 minutes and then 6-6 after extra time before edging out Rosebery 5-4 on penalty kicks. Nick Aitkins netted twice for Wombles to go with one each from Ollie Urquart, Nick Kerr and James Mallia while an Aaron Chilton hat-trick plus a twosome from Ryan Salter and a solo effort from Scott Chilton accounted for Rosebery’s tally.

The other Semi-final saw Denton gain a 2-0 victory over F.C.Crispin courtesy of strikes from Robbie O’Neill and Morad Samaloussi to make a date with Wombles in the final at Spencer F.C. on Wednesday, 4TH. May.

Premier Division

Hometech just got the better of Thorplands United by the odd goal in three with veterans Adam Whitmore and Wayne Baptiste both hitting the target for the Far Cotton side leaving Vit Chirwa to net Thorplands lone retort.

Division One

Mereway United were crowned Division One Champions and are looking forward to promotion to the Premier Division after a comfortable 6-0 triumph over struggling Northants Police. The League’s leading marksman, Gareth Errington took his total to 35 with a threesome while the other goals came via Jack Winkel, Wayne Leader and Craig Young. Harlequins Reserves claimed the Runners up spot on the back of a 4-1 success over Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves. Dean Self led the scoring for Quins with a double strike and was well supported with singles from Steffan Chambers and Andy Ranft which left Mark Ellis to net Orchards reply. Obelisk United moved up to third position on the back of a 3-2 victory over James King Blisworth‘A’ with Thomas Watkins, Amos Njugunah and Sam Lavelle all getting on the score sheet while Luke Holden and Scott Sandy both hit the target for Blisworth. Nick Brown netted both Thorplands Club 81 goals as they lost 3-2 to West Haddon Reserve who’s goals were shared between Exeon O’Neill, Zubei Cakmak and Charlie Heel


Delapre lose out to Wombles!

Premier Division

 

Form team A.F.C.Wombles got the better of second placed Delapre Old Boys by the odd goal in three. Nick Kerr and Nick Aitkins netted Wombles goals which left Richard Slater to hit Delapre’s retort with a 20 yard block buster. Northampton Harlequins took full advantage of Delapre’s demise by beating third placed Denton 6-1 and move nine points clear at the summit. The Champions were indebted to a super hat trick from Andrew Condon and singles from Rhys Coleman, Gavin Hitchcock and skipper Ashley Fleming. All Denton could muster was a solitary goal scored by Dan Machardie. An Andy Eaton double strike and a solo effort from Ryan Fowkes ensured a 3-0 victory for F.C.Crispin over Thorplands United who remain at the foot of the table. Rosebery Rangers gained a 2-1 triumph over Hometech courtesy of strikes from Aaron Chilton and Craig Merrick leaving Chris Culley to net Hometech’s reply.

Northampton Harlequins Reserves remain in second spot on the back of their 3-2 success over West Haddon Reserves. Wombles knock Champions out!

League Cup 3RD Round

 

A.F.C.Wombles eased to a surprise 4-1 victory over reigning champions Northampton Harlequins. The Wombles ace marksman Jamie Ellis netted twice to go with one a-piece from Ollie Urquart and Nick Aitkin which left Andrew Condon to hit Harlequins reply.

 

Premier Division

 

Third placed Denton had no problems in dispatching bottom club Thorplands United 6-1 courtesy of a Robbie O’Neil hat trick and singles from Callum Snooks, Johnny Shakespeare and Ryan Machardie. Thorplands consolation came via Jack Quennel.  

Division One

 

In a high scoring match Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves got the better of James King Blisworth by 5-4. Orchard Parks goals were shared between Lee Chester, Khaled Ezzat, Blayne Chester, Kelvyn Smith and player secretary Dave Kelly while a Luke Holden threesome and a solo effort from Darren Lyons accounted for Blisworth’s retort. Harlequins Reserves cemented their second spot with a 3-1 triumph over their nearest rivals Spinney Hill. Ben Smith hit the target twice and Vince Shelton once for the Quins second string leaving Daniel Oats to score for Spinney Hill.

 

 

Eleanor Cleaning Services March ‘Ball of the Month’

The Eleanor Cleaning Services, March Ball of the Month winners are Division One outfit James King Blisworth ‘A’ who scored 22 goals in the month of March.

Rosebery beat Mereway!

League Cup 3RD Round

 

Premier Division side Rosebery Rangers inflicted a first defeat of the season on Division One run-away leaders Mereway United by 3-2. Rosebery opened up a 3-0 half-time lead thanks to a double strike from Craig Merrick and a single from Jack Labrum but Mereway hit back with a Anthony Broadbelt strike and an own goal to set up a grand stand finish but the Prem side held out to go through to the next round. F.C.Crispin just edged out West Haddon Reserves by the odd goal in three. Daniel Lynch gave the villagers hope with a well taken goal however a goal a-piece from James White and the ever green Wayne Cockerill saw Crispin progress. Denton made their superior status count as they beat Thorplands Club 81  5-2courtesy of a Morad Samakloussi hat trick plus strikes from Johnny Shakespeare and Callum Snooks leaving Martin Uranie and James Morgan to hit Clubs reply. 

 

Premier Division

 

Delapre Old Boy’s hammered lowly Thorplands United 10-0 with Martin Feasey leading the scoring with a foursome. He was well supported by John Slater who helped himself to a three timer and Richard Slater, Martin Brown and Steve Healey who netted one each.

 

Division One

 

James King Blisworth coasted to a 10-1 victory over Norhants Police. Mark Pittams 3, Luke Holden 2, Scott Burton 2 Scott Sandy, Richard Husbands and Darren Lyons all got on the score sheet for Blisworth. The Police consolation came via Chris Powell. Harborough Town ‘A’ and Obelisk United fought out a 2-2 draw with Ross Digby and Harry Parker scoring Harborough’s goals and Tom Townsend netting both of the Obelisk strikes. Rock bottom 10 man Cripps succumbed to a 15-0 defeat at the hands of Northampton Harlequins Reserves. The Quins goals were shared between Andrew Webb 3, Ben Smith 3, Shane Ranft 2, Andrew Ranft, Oliver Francis, Quincey Shorunma and an own goal.

 

 


Mereway open up 16 point gap!

Runaway leader’s Mereway United beat their nearest rivals Spinney Hill

3-1 to open up a sixteen point gap. The rotund Michael Dunkley netted twice and Gareth Errington once  for the Champions elect leaving Daniel Oats to hit the target for Spinney Hill. High flying Harlequins Reserves lost ground on the pacesetters as they were held to a 3-3 stalemate by Obelisk United. Shane Ranft grabbed a brace and Robert Spatcher scored one for the Quins second string while a twosome from Amos Njugunah and a solo effort from Thomas Watkins accounted for the Obelisk score. James King Blisworth coasted to a 6-0 victory over Cripps thanks to a double strike from player manager Mark Pittam and one a-piece from Justin Ayres, Darren Lyon, Jason Campion and Tom Vaughn. Two goals from Luke Coleman and singles from Khaled Ezzat and Lee Chester enabled Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves to ease to a 4-0 success against West Haddon Reserves.

 

League Cup 2ND Round

 

First Division outfit Thorplands Club 81 sprang a major surprise in the 2nd Round of the League Cup by defeating Hometech from the Premier Division 2-1. Thorplands marksmen were Martin Uranie and Jamie Morgan while Ricky Knipes netted Hometech’s reply.

Premier Division

 

Delapre Old Boys played host to A.F.C.Wombles and Wombles took the lead courtesy of a Jamie Ellis spot kick. However Delapre fought back and won the match 2-1 with Barry Swallow and Martin Feasey hitting the goals for the Far Cotton team. Denton completed a 5-2 triumph over F.C.Crispin with their strikes coming via Callum Snooks 2, Robbie O’Neill 2 and Jamie O’Neill which left Ryan Fowkes and Glen Butcher to net Crispin’s retort. Rosebery Rangers and SPA couldn’t be separated in their game which finished 4-4. Matt Johnson found the net twice and Aaron Chilton and Craig Merrick once each leaving Chris Norman and Jason Driver to net two a-piece for SPA. Northampton Harlequins stayed at the top of the pile after getting the best of Thorplans United 2-0. Gavin Hitchcock scored both goals for the reigning Champions.

Roseberry Rangers condemned second placed Delapre Old Boys to a surprising 5-1 defeat in the second round of the Town League knock out cup. Aaron Chilton led the way for Rosebery with a super hat-trick and was well supported with strikes from Jack Labrum and Michael Roddis. All Delapre could muster was a solitary goal from the enigmatic Martin Feasey.

 

Premier Division

 

Leaders Harlequins took full advantage of Delapre’s exploits in the League cup by beating F.C.Crispin 3-0 to go nine points clear at the summit. The Quins marksmen were Rhyse Coleman, Glen Moore and skipper Ashley Fleming. Denton moved up to third spot on the back of their 7-0 annihilation of struggling SPA. Brothers Robbie and Jamie O’Neil both hit the target twice for the villagers to go with singles from Daniel Machardie, Jonathan Shakespeare and Callum Snooks. Goal machine Jamie Ellis netted all three goals for A.F.C.Wombles in their 3-1 triumph over Thorplands United who replied through Jonathan Kirkpatrick.

 

Division One

 

Thorplands Club 81 was too strong for James King Blisworth ‘A’ as they ran out 4-2 winners. Two goals a-piece from James Morgan and Danny Phear was enough for a Club 81 victory leaving Aiden King and Kieran Robinson to net Blisworth’s retort. Spinney Hill 2010 stayed in second position after beating Harborough Town ‘A’ 4-1 courtesy of a double strike from Daniel Oats and one each from Kyle Daniels and John Leigh. Harborough’s consolation was scored by Jordon Hamilton. Northampton Harlequins Reserves made it a good day for the club as the gained a 3-1 success over Obelisk United. Ashley Boden, Ben Brown and Andrew Webb all got on the score sheet for the Quins second string while Amos Njugumah hit the Obelisk lone reply.

Giant Killers West Haddon Reserves!

League Cup 2ND Round

 

Division One outfit West Haddon Reserves pulled off a super giant killer act by beating Premier Division bottom markers Thorplands United 2-1 after extra time. West Haddon’s strikes came from Zubei Cakmak and an own goal while Ollie Mwanza netted for Thorplands. Denton went goal crazy against rock bottom Northants Police running away with an incredible 12-0 score line. Robbie O’Neill led the scoring for the villagers with a foursome and he was well supported by Callum Snooks 3, Jamie O’Neill, Johnny Shakespeare, Sam Wade, Mark Page and Omar Samaloussi. F.C.Crispin just edged out Obelisk United by the odd goal in five. Strikes from Tom Townsend and Charlie Cox gave Obelisk hope but a goal a-piece from Marc Hall, Chris Mann and the ever green Wayne Cockerill saw the Premier Division team through. A.F.C. Wombles made their superior status tell as they overcame Harlequins Reserves 8-1courtesy of a well taken hat-trick from Jamie Ellis plus doubles from Ollie Urquart and Nick Aitkin and a solo effort from James Malia which left Andrew Webb to net Harlequins consolation. Runaway Division One leaders Mereway United beat Premier Division strugglers SPA 2-0 thanks to a brace from the League’s leading scorer Gareth Errington.

Reigning Champions and Premier Division pace setters Northampton Harlequins came from behind to beat third placed Rosebery Rangers 3-2. A twosome from Tommy Stratford put Rosebery into a 2-0 lead however singles from Andy Condon, Ashley Fleming and Rhyse Coleman gave the points to Quins and opened up a six point lead at the summit.

 

Division One

 

Spinney Hill 2010 moved up to second spot on the back of a 4-2 victory over Kettering Orchard Park Reserves. Carl Daniels found the net twice for Spinney to go with one a-piece from James Brown and Daniel Oats leaving Khaled Ezzat and Wayne Fox to hit Orchard Parks retort.

The Eleanor Cleaning Services February Ball of the Month winners are Premier Division outfit Denton   who scored 19 goals in the month of February.

Ellis nets four goals for Wombles!

Premier Division

 

In an incident packed match Delapre Old Boys beat F.C.Crispin 4-3. Crispin raced into a 2-0 lead with efforts from Chris Mann and Wayne Cockerill but Delapre fought back to go 4-2 up thanks to double strikes from Martin Feasey and Ant Kirby. Mann grabbed another goal for Crispin but Delapre ran out 4-3 winners. A.F.C.Wombles eased to a 6-0 triumph over Hometech thanks to a four timer from ace marksman Jamie Ellis and one a-piece from Nick Kerr and Neil Lewis. Denton and Rosebery Rangers fought out a goalless stalemate in a game that was totally dominated by both defences. Northampton Harlequins hammered hapless SPA 7-0 with twosomes from Andy Condon, Glenn Moore and Ashley Fleming plus a solo effort from veteran striker Les Watson.

 

Division One

 

Thorplands Club 81 condemned Cripps to a 6-3 defeat. A Richard Docherty brace and a single strike from Jason Bazely gave Cripps hope however a well taken hat-trick from Martin Uranie plus a pair from Danny Phear plus one from Johnny Dee ensured victory for Club 81. James King Blisworth ‘A’ pulled level with second placed Harlequins Reserves after beating them 4-3. Luke Holden led the scoring for Blisworth hitting the target three times to go with one goal from Mark Pittam., Harlequins retort came from Dean Self 2 and Steven Jeltz. Mereway United just edged out Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves by the odd goal in five. Two goals from the League’s leading goal scorer Gareth Errington and one from Adam Barrett gave Mereway a 3-0 lead but a brace from Lee Chester, the last one every bit as good as Rooney’s overhead kick, made for a nail biting finish. Strikes from Simon Mercer and Shomuza Chaudury gave West Haddon Reserves a 2-1 success over Spinney Hill 2010 whose lone reply came via Enock Sutherland.  

 

 


Thorplands claim Victory!

Premier Division

 

Bottom markers Thorplands United moved within a point of their nearest rivals SPA after condemning them to a 2-1 defeat. Thorplands marksmen were Andy Aitkin and Kyle Miller which left Steve Coles to net SPA’s reply. Reigning Champions and current League leaders Northampton Harlequins eased to a 4-0 success over Hometec with their goals being shared between Glenn Moore, Mark O’Leary, Rhyse Coleman and Gavin Hitchcock. Delapre Old Boys are just three points adrift of the pacesetters on the back of a 2-1 victory against Denton. Barry Swallow and Stephen Healey put Delapre ahead and despite a late strike from Denton’s Johnny Shakespeare Delapre claimed the points. A.F.C.Wombles beat Rosebery Rangers 3-1 courtesy of a double strike from James Mallia and a single from Nick Aikin. Rosebery’s retort came via Scott Chilton.

In the top of the table clash between runaway leaders Mereway United and second placed Harlequins Reserves, the latter raced into a two goal lead with efforts from Dean Self and Steffon Chambers. However that was as good as it got for the Quins second string as Mereway took control with a twosome from the prolific Gareth Errington and one a-piece for Lee Lazarski and player secretary Darren Brown to earn a 4-2 triumph and move an amazing fifteen points clear at the summit. A hat-trick from Luke Coleman plus strikes from Mark Bussey, Matthew Tin, Wayne Fox and Sean Cunningham saw Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves coast to a 7-1 victory over Cripps whose lone reply was scored by Luke Ruffle. James King Blisworth ‘A’ just edged out Spinney Hill 2010 by the odd goal in five. Daniel Oats and Aaron Linnell hit the target for Spinney Hill but a brace for Luke Holden and a solo effort from Carlton Campbell gave Blisworth all three points. Obelisk United hammered Northants Police 8-1 thanks to a threesome from James Kerrins and one each from Ryan Andrews, Sam Lavelle, Tom Watkins, Kevin Westley and an own goal. A Chris Powell strike accounted for the Police consolation.

West Haddon Reserves and Harborough Town ‘A’ were locked at 1-1 after 90 minutes of this enthralling cup tie with Daniel Lynch netting for Haddon and Alex Hunt doing likewise for Harborough. Reigning Champions Harlequins placed two hands firmly on the Premier League title after beating their nearest challengers Delapre Old Boys 1-0 with Rhys Coleman grabbing the all important goal to open up a six point gap at the summit. Third placed Rosebery Rangers moved within two points of Delapre after easing to a 4-1 victory over Thorplands United. Rosebery’s strikes were shared between Jack Labrum, Scott McGuiness, Michael Roddis and Ryan Salter leaving Kyle Miller to score Thorplands reply. A Marc Hall double strike and one from Chris Mann enabled F.C.Crispin to get the better of Hometec 3-1, whose lone retort cam via Mark Filsell. 

 

League Cup Round 1

 

Division One basement boy’s Northants Police turned the form book upside down as they completed an unlikely 2-0 win over high flying Spinney Hill 2010. The Police marksmen were Richard Barnett and Gavin Suttee. Obelisk United and James King Blisworth ‘A’ couldn’t be separated after 90 minutes as they were locked at 3-3 with James Kerrins scoring twice and Carl White once for Obelisk while a goal a-piece from Carlton Campbell, Luke Holden and Scott Sandy accounted for Blisworths tally. Even after extra time the scored remained even however Obelisk triumphed 5-4 on penalty kicks to progress into Round two. Harlequins Reserves beat Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves 5-2 courtesy of two goals each for Ben Brown and Liam Davies plus a solo effort from Ben Smith which left Mark Bussey and Lee Chester to hit the target for Orchard Park.

Mereway United stormed into the N.B.C.Cup final with a 5-0 success against Harborough Town ‘A’. Delapre Old Boy’s are level on points with leaders Harlequins after playing out a 1-1 draw with third placed Rosebery Rangers. Scott McGuiness netted for Rosebery while Stephen Healey did likewise for Delapre. In a rehearsal for the Gorell Barnes Cup final scheduled for May, A.F.C.Wombles eased to a 3-1 victory over F.C.Crispin thanks to strikes from Stuart McDermott, Luke Borer and the prolific Jamie Ellis which left Pierre Coleman to hit Crispin’s lone retort. SPA found some good form to beat Thorplands United 4-0. Pat O’Connell led the scoring with a brace and was well supported with singles from Nile Hollowell and Chris Norman.

Harlequins Reserves discovered their shooting boots as they hammered James King Blisworth ‘A’ 7-0 and leapfrog the villagers into second spot. Glen Moore and Dean Self both scored twice with James Walsh netting a solo effort and an own goal rounding off the scoring. Northants Police and Cripps had a close encounter with the latter coming out 4-3 winners. A goal a-piece from Larkins, Suttie and Atter gave the ‘boys in blue ‘hope but a double strike from Docherty and singles for Bazely and Bell was enough for Cripps to earn all three points. West Haddon Reserves just edged out Obelisk United by the odd goal in three courtesy of goals from Shomue Chauhury and George MacArthur leaving Carl White to net the Obelisk reply.  

 

Northampton Town F.A. N.B.C. Cup Semi-final

 

Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves knocked Thorplands Club 81out of the NBC Cup with a 2-1 score line to make an appointment in the final at Sixfield on 7th May. Orchard Park’s goal heroes on the day were I Coleman and I Churchill who both hit the target. Thorplands lone marksman was Johnny Dee. Orchard Park will have to wait till next week to see who their opponents will be in the final as the other semi-final Harborough Town ‘A’ v Mereway United was postponed due to a frozen pitch.

In a top of the table clash reigning Champions and current leaders Northampton Harlequins took on third placed Rosebery Rangers and they fought out a 3-3 stale mate with the Quins goals being shared between Glen Moore, Andy Condin and Rhyse Coleman while the Rosebery retort were converted by Tommy Stratford, Ryan Salter and Jack Labrum. Denton coasted to a 7-2 victory over Thorplands United thanks to double strikes from Callum Snooks and Robbie O’Neil plus singles for Ben Cooke, Jamie O’Nell and Johnny Shakespeare which left Kyle Miller and Ryan Crook to net Thorplands reply. Jamie Ellis netted twice and John Swallow once as A.F.C.Wombles beat SPA 3-0 to cement a mid-table position.

 

Division One

 

West Haddon Reserves held Mereway United to a 1-1 draw to ruin the runaway leaders 100% record. Michael Dunkley hit the target for Mereway however Andy Wright popped up to net an equalizer for the villagers. Northampton Harlequins Reserves discovered their scoring boots as they hammered thirteen goals past the unlucky Cripps without reply. Dean Self led the scoring with five goals and was well supported by James Walsh 3, Stefan Chambers 3, Michael Westley and Steven Jeltsch. Thorplands Club 81 played host to Spinney Hill 2010 and the visitors came away with a 4-3 success. Strikes from James Morgan, Johnny Dee and Martin Uranie gave Club 81 hope but a brace from Daniel Oats and one a-piece from James McEnroe and John Lee ensured victory for Spinney Hill.  Harborough Town ‘A’ got the better of Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves 4-2 courtesy of a Joe Wright twosome and singles from Dan Cooper and Jordan Hamilton leaving W Thompson and L Chester to score Orchard Parks goals.

The Northampton Town League Representative Team play host to the Northamptonshire Combination on Tuesday 25th January at Compton Park, the home of Cogenhoe United F.C. in the last match of the Four Leagues Trophy Competition, which consists of the Town League, Peterborough League, Bedford County League and the Northants Combination. FC Crispin v AFC Wombles meet in Gorell Barnes Cup

Northampton F.A. Gorell Barnes Cup Semi-Finals

 

The two underdogs came out on top in the two semi-final matches. F.C.Crispin cruised to a 5-1 victory over second placed Delapre Old Boy’s in a true cup upset. Paul Panter and Andy Eaton both hit the target twice for Crispin to go with a solo effort from Marc Hall which left Delapre’s skipper Ant Kirby to notch his team’s consolation. Crispin’s opponents in the final to be played at Sixfields on 7th May, will be A.F.C.Wombles who knocked out high flying Rosebery Rangers 3-1. Wombles raced into a 2-0 lead with efforts from Nick Kerr and Jamie Ellis. However Rosebery hit back with a Ryan Salter strike but this spurred on Wombles to net a third goal through Ollie Urquart to see his side progress into the final.

 

Premier Division

 

Hometech moved up to fourth in the table on the back of a 5-1 success over SPA. Charlie Whiting netted a brace while Sam Dengel and Dave Sanders hitting one a-piece with an own goal making up Hometech’s tally. Chris Norman scored SPA’s retort.

 

Division One

 

Cripps recorded their first success of the season with a resounding 7-1 victory against Northants Police. Leon Riley led the scoring with a double strike and he was well supported with singles from Jason Bazely, Anthony Bell, Richard Doherty, Will James and Michael Cawley leaving James Larkin to net the lone Police reply. Another team to hit the goal trail was Kettering Orchard Park Reserves who Hammered Spinney Hill 2010 

8-1 courtesy of a Mark Bussey hat-trick, a twosome from Lee Chester and one each for Matthew Tins, Sean Cunningham and Luke Churchill while all Spinney Hill could muster was a solitary strike from Mark Lemonious. Mereway United continue to dominate the Division after easing to a 5-1 triumph over Obelisk United and go 14 points clear at the summit. Mereway’s goals were shared between Dirk Campling, Gareth Errington, Darren Brown and AnthonyBroadbelt plus an own goal. Obelisk replied via Tom Watkins. James King Blisworth ‘A’ just edged out West Haddon Reserves by the odd goal in seven. A double strike from Steve Swann and goal from Exeon O’Neill gave Haddon hope but a three timer from player/manager Mark Pittam plus a strike from Luke Holden secured victory for Blisworth and moves them up to second spot.

 

Northants F.A.Area Cup Quarter Final

 

Harlequins Reserves played host to Netherton United ‘A’ and unluckily went out 4-3 after extra time. The score stood at 3-3 after 90 minutes after a Glenn Moore double salvo and a Dean Self goal however Netherton scored their fourth goal in the extra period to ruin Harlequins County cup dreams.

Mereway United coasted into the next round with a 4-0 success against Harlequins Reserves. Dirk Campling, Gareth Errington, Adam Barrett plus an own goal accounted for Mereway’s total. James King Blisworth ‘A’ found Harborough Town’s striker Joe Wright unplayable as he netted all six goals for town in a 6-3 victory while Blisworth’s goals were shared between Mark Pittam, Craig Taylor and Scott Burton.

Lowly SPA turned the form book upside down as they inflicted a first League defeat of the season with a scoreline of 1-0 on reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins. Scott Walden grabbed the all-important goal for SPA. F.C.Crispin found some good form as they beat high flying Rosebery Ranger 4-3. Tom Stratford, Matt Johnson and Aaron Chilton all hit the target for Rosebery however a double strike from the diminutive Matt Aitkinson and singles from Andy Seaton and Pierre Coleman gave victory to Crispin. AFC Wombles and Thorplands United fought out a 2-2 stalemate with Olly Urquart netting twice for Wombles and Jessal Patel and Kyle Miller scoring for Thorplands.

 

Division One

Obelisk United moved up to fourth spot after drawing with Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves 2-      2. The Obelisk goals were shared between Tom Watkins, Adam Harjiaou and Adam Hares while Orchard Parks marksmen were Lee Chester, Luke Coleman and Luke Churchill. West Haddon Reserves proved to be too strong for Cripps winning 3-1 courtesy of a twosome for Exeon O’Neil and a solo effort from Zubei Cakmak which left Richard Docherty to net Cripps reply.

Brian Bennett Passed away 15th December 2010

 

Brian Bennett who was President of the Northampton Town League passed away on 15th December 2010 after suffering a heart attack. Brian was also President of Northampton Town Sunday Combination, life Vice President of the Northampton Town F.A. and life member of Northamptonshire F.A. During his life time he filled the positions of honourable secretary, Registration secretary, fixture secretary and Referee's appointment officer at different times for the Northampton Town League. He was also secretary of Victoria Rangers F.C. who was one of the most successful teams in Northampton during the sixties and seventies. His contribution to the development of football was recognised by the Football Association when he received the FA 50 Year Long Service Award in 2005.

With the majority of games losing out to the inclement weather the only Premier Division game that went ahead saw Delapre Old Boy’s draw level on points with leaders Harlequins on the back of a 2-0 victory over local rivals Hometec courtesy of a double strike from their influential skipper Ant Kirby.

Pace setters Mereway United went eleven points clear at the summit after inflicting a 6-4 defeat on their nearest rivals Harlequins Reserves. United’s ace marksman Gareth Errington netted four times to go with one a-piece from Anthony Broadbelt and player/secretary Darren Brown while the Quins retort came from a brace for Elliott Sandy and singles from Stefon Chambers and Shawn James. James King Blisworth ‘A’ beat Northants Police 4-2 thanks to a twosome from Luke Holden and one each from Darren McWilliams and Dean Ball leaving Andrew Cleaver and Christopher Jones to net for the boy’s in blue. Thorplands Club 81 got the better of the ever improving Cripps 6-3. James Morgan led the scoring for Thorplands hitting the target four times and was well backed up by Johnny Dee and Martin Uranie which left Stuart Hardinges to net twice and Stephen Henson once for Cripps.

NORTHANT F.A. LES UNDERWOOD JUNIOR CUP 3RD ROUND

 

Northampton Harlequins made the long journey to U.C.L. outfit Peterborough Northern Stars reserves and raced into a 2-0 lead after only ten minutes with Andy Ranft and Gavin Hitchcock scoring. However the United Counties League side’s fitness told as they drew level with five minutes to spare in normal time. Ashley Fleming netted another goal for the Quins but they eventually went out 5-3 after extra time.

Reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins took a giant leap to retaining their title by beating their nearest rivals and last season’s Runners up, Delapre Old Boys 2-1. The Quins took the lead just before half-time when Gavin Hitchcock capitalised on a Delapre defensive slip up. An own goal made it 2-0 to the table toppers and a solo strike from Martin Brown for Delapre concluded the scoring which resulted in Harlequins going three points clear at the summit. F.C.Crispin and Thorplands United fought out a 1-1 draw with Chris Mann hitting the target for Crispin and Kyle Miller doing likewise for Thorplands. Former Thorplands player Marc Hall had a good game for Crispin. Two goals a-piece from Jon Phipps and Harvey Keating gave University of Northampton a 4-2 success against SPA whose marksmen were Scott Walden and Martin Kingsnorth.

 DIVISION ONE

 

Thorplands Club 81 went goal crazy against Northants Police winning 11-1. Martin Uraine led the scoring with a hat-trick and was well supported by James Morgan 2, Johnny Dee 2, Danny Phear 2, Dan Harding and Liam Fox. The Police consolation was scored by Andrew Cleaver. Another team to hit the goal trail was Harlequins Reserves who coasted to a 9-0 triumph over Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves. The Quins Reserves goals were shared between Liam Davies 2, Dean Self 2, Steffan Chambers 2, Ashley Boden, Vince Shelton and Steve Jeltsch.

In form Denton followed up last week’s excellent Cup win over reigning champions Harlequins by inflicting a first league defeat of the season on Rosebery Rangers by 3-2. An Aaron Chilton double strike gave Rosebery hope but a goal a-piece from Johnny Shakespeare, Stephen Moss and Callum Snooks ensured Denton’s victory. Harlequins stay on top of the pile after beating F.C.Crispin 5-2 thanks to two goals each for Gavin Hitchcock and Rhys Colman plus a solo effort from Andy Condon which left Chris Mann to hit a two goal salvo for Crispin’s reply. Hometech just edged out Thorplands United 1-0 courtesy of a twice taken penalty from Sam Dengel.Delapre Old Boys, who only trail leaders Harlequins on goal difference, gained a hard earned 2-0 success over University of Northampton with Barry Swallow and Darren Andrew netting for the Far Cotton side.

Runaway pace setters Mereway United opened up an amazing nine point gap at the summit on the back of a 6-1 triumph over Spinney Hill 2010. Gareth Errington and Anthony Broadbelt hit the target twice and Michael Dunkley and Dirk Campling  once each. Spinney’s consolation came via John Leigh. Obelisk United coasted to a 6-1 win against whipping boys Cripps. Delroy Kilborn hit a four timer to go with singles from Terrence Williams and Kevin Westley. West Haddon Reserves got the better of Northants Police 3-0 with Zubei Cakmak, Shomue Chaudhury and Charlie Heeley all getting on the score sheet for the villagers. Harlequins Reserves made it a good day for the club by beating Harborough Town ‘A’ 6-1 Steffon Chambers and Ben Brown scoring twice to go with singles from Liam Davies and Ashley Boden leaving Joe Wright to net Towns retort.

Denton turned the form book upside down as they knocked reigning Premier Division Champion out of the Gorell Barnes cup in the first round with a 3-0 score line. The Denton marksmen were Morad Samoloussi, Robbie O’Neil and the effervescent Jonathan Shakespeare. In a close encounter Rosebery just edged Thorplands United out by the odd goal in three thanks to a goal a-piece from Jack Labrum and Matthew Bryley leaving Thorplands skipper Ryan Crooks to net their reply. Strikes from Harvey Keating and Jon Phipps was enough to give the University of Northampton a 2-0 victory over Rainbow Club.

A Zubei Cakmaksarl three timer was instrumental in West Haddon’s Reserves 4-1 win over Thorplands Club 81 with Exeon O’Neil completing the score which left Martin Ukraine to hit Thorplands retort. PREMIER DIVISION

Hometech recorded an excellent 6-3 victory over Denton courtesy of a super hat-trick from Sam Dengel and a twosome from Charlie Whiting plus a solo effort from Danny Molyneux leaving Robbie O’Neil to net twice and Jonny Shakespeare once for the villagers. It remains very tight at the summit with three teams Harlequins, Delapre , and Rosebery all on 18 points. Harlequins were indebted to a treble from Glen Moore and a single from Andy Condon for their 4-1 success over AFC Wombles whose retort came from Olly Urquhart.  Delapre Old Boy’s completed 5-2 triumph against SPA with Darren Andrew leading the scoring with a brace and Barry Swallow, Andy Seaton and Martin Stone all netting one a-piece. SPA’s response came via Wayne Ventour and Jon Caesar. Rosebery got the better of University of Northampton 4-1thanks to a double strike from Aaron Chilton and singles from Jack Labrum and Matt Johnson.

 DIVISION ONE

Carl White helped himself to two goals and Kevin Wesley to one to enable Obelisk United to complete a 3-1 victory over Kettering Orchard Park United who could only muster a solitary strike from Warren Thompson. James King Blisworth ‘A’ and West Haddon reserves couldn’t be separated in a 3-3 stalemate. Blisworth’s player/manager Mark Pittams hit the target twice and Andy Love once for the home side while West Haddon’s marksmen were Zubel Cakmak, Exeon O’Neil and Simon Duffield. Spinney Hill remain in second spot on the back of their 2-0 win over Northants Police. Sam Curtis and Mark Lemonious netted for Spinney Hill.

Harlequins coast to Victory over UCL Team

NORTHANTS F.A. JUNIOR CUP – RND 2

 

Northampton Harlequins coasted to a 3-0 victory over U.C.L.outfit Wellingborough Town Reserves. The young Harlequins side completely dominated the game and could have made the score line a lot bigger but for some near misses. Andre Liburd hit the target twice and Andy Condon once for the Quins. Denton made a fruitless journey to Desborough Town Reserves as they went down 2-0. In a tight cup tie Corby Pegasus and AFC Wombles were locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes with Richard Ellis and Olly Urquhart scoring the Wombles goals, however the Northampton team went out 4-2 after extra time.AFC Wombles were edged out by Corby Pegasus

 

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Delapre Old Boy’s took advantage of Harlequins cup exploits to draw level on points with them at the summit on the back of a 6-1 mauling of SPA. Andrew Seaton and Barry Swallow both netted twice to go with one a-piece from Martin Feasey and Ant Kirby leaving Scott Walden to net a consolation goal for SPA. Rosebery Rangers are also level top after condemning Thorplands United to a 3-1 defeat. Rangers goals were shared between Aaron Chilton, Ryan Salter and Jack Labrum while a solo effort from James McGrath accounted for Thorplands retort. Hometech proved too strong for Rainbow Club winning 4-2. Chris Culley led the scoring for Hometech with a brace and he was supported with strikes from John Fury and Sam Dengal. Rainbow’s goals came via Mohamed Ally and Mohamed Alas.

DIVISION ONE

 

After being on the end of a 12-1 drubbing last week Cripps were annihilated 25-0 by Spinney Hill. James Brown netted 10 times to go with Sean Wilks 5, James McInroe 3, Joe Minney 3, Dan Oats, Mark Lemonious, John Leigh and Andy Leigh. Credit must go to Cripps who never gave up and kept going to the bitter end. Surely things can only get better for them. Harborough Town ‘A’ kept their recent good run going with a 3-1 victory over James King Blisworth ‘A’courtesy of a Liam Day double and a single from Reno Demarco. Mereway United stay in pole position after recording a 3-0 triumph against West Haddon Reserves. Michael Dunkley, Jack Winkel and James Frost were Mereway’s marksmen. Thorplands Club 81 romped to a 7-0 success over Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves thanks to a well taken hat-trick from Johnny Dee, a twosome from Martin Uranie and singles from James Morgan and Dan Harding

A.F.C.Wombles recorded their first league win of the season beating Rainbow Club 5-1 thanks to double strikes from Jamie Ellis and Olly Uruquhart and a solo effort from Stewart McDermott. Kaiser Abdoulla hit Rainbows lone reply. Denton returned to winning ways with a 5-2 victory over Liberty Stars. Jonathan Shakespeare netted three times for the villages to go with a brace from Morad Samaloussi. F.C.Crispin romped to a 6-2 success over Hometech with Marc Hall helping himself to a hat trick and Neil Jarrett hitting the target twice and James Henry White scoring a single. Hometech’s goals came via Charlie Whiting and Danny Molynoux. Harlequins stayed three points clear at the summit on the back of a comfortable 6-0 triumph against University of Northampton. Glen Moore led the scoring for the Quins and was well supported with singles from Andy Ranft, Rhys Coleman, Andy Web and an own goal. Delapre Old Boy’s just edged out Thorplands United 1-0 with the Delapre skipper Ant Kirby scoring the all important goal.

Harborough Town ‘A’ discovered their shooting boots as they hammered Cripps

 12-1. Joe Wright netted five times to go with four from Adam Manton, two from Duncan Sampson and one from Liam Day which left Dan Pickering to hit Cripps consolation. Obelisk United beat Spinney Hill 3-1 courtesy of a twosome from Kevin Wesley and a single from Carl White while Dan Oats scored Spinney’s retort. James King Blisworth ‘A’ defeated SPA Reserves 6-3 with their goals being shared between Mark Pittam, Darren McWilliams, Tom Vaughn, Clive Thompson Dan Ball and Ashley Bryan. The SPA scorers were Gary Dobbin 2 and Dan Milbourne. Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves grabbed their first victory this term as they got the better of Northants Police by the odd goal in three. A strike from Gavin Suttie gave the Police hope but a goal a-piece from Chris Bussey and Luke Coleman earned Orchard Park the points. Mereway United still lead the Division after easing to a 6-0 victory over Thorplands Club 81 by 6-3. Mereway’s twin strike force of Michael Dunkley 4 and Gareth Errington 2 shared the goals between them. Harlequins Reserves lay in second spot after overcoming West Haddon Reserves 6-3with Stefan Chambers 2, Liam Davies, James Walsh, Steve Jeltsch and Nathan Bates netting for Quins while George McArther, Exeon O’Neil and Darren Woods got on the score sheet for Haddon.

University of Northampton romped to a 6-0 triumph over Thorplands United thanks to a well taken hat-trick from Harvey Keating and a brace from Junior Ogwal plus a solo effort from George Goodwin. Reigning champions Northampton Harlequins left it very late to keep their 100% record intact. It wasn’t until the 87th minute that Andrew Condon converted a penalty and it was the same player who netted direct from a free kick in the final minute to leave Hometech to lick their wounds with a 2-0 defeat. Rosebery Rangers are three points behind Harlequins in second place after overcoming Liberty Stars 6-0. Scott Chilton and Gary Batchelor both found the target twice for Rosebery to go with  singles from Aaron Chilton and Ryan Salter. F.C.Crispin and Rainbow Club fought out a goalless stalemate in a game dominated by both defences. Delapre Old Boys just edged out Denton by the odd goal in five. Strikes from Jonathan Shakespeare and Callum Snoops gave Denton hope but a twosome from Martin Feasey and a single from skipper Ant Kirby gave Delapre the points.

Northants Police eased to a 3-0 victory over SPA Reserves courtesy of a two timer from Jack Grant and one from player/secretary Phil Mills. West Haddon Reserves played host to Spinney Hill and went down 6-3. Spinney Hill’s goals were shared between John Leigh 2, James Brown 2, Joe Minney and James McEnroe while Haddon’s retort came via Zube Cakmak 2 and Andy Wright. A double strike from Carl White and a solo effort from Joe Cheadle enabled Obelisk United to defeat Thorplands Club 81 whose sole reply came from Danny Phear.

A Stefan Chambers treble and a Liam Davies strike proved too much for the Northants Combination outfit. James King Blisworth ‘A’ went out to Corby Pegasus Reserves with Darren McWilliams netting Blisworth’s goal. Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves lost out to Kettering Park Rovers 8-3. A pair from Luke Coleman and a Dan Kelly strike accounted for Orchard Parks goals.

Reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins are early leaders after inflicting a first defeat of the season on Denton courtesy of a Andy Ranft double strike. Rosebery Rangers are hot on the Quins heels on the back of a 5-1 triumph over A.F.C. Wombles. Scott Chilton led the scoring for Rosebery with a brace and was well supported with singles from Gary  Bachelor, Jack Labrum and Craig Merrick while Olly Urquhart netted the Wombles retort. Hometech romped to a 4-0 success over SPA with Adam Whitmore netting twice and Charlie Whiting and Ashley Gale grabbing one a-piece. Rainbow Club and Thorplands United fought out a 3-3 draw with Mohamed Hassen hitting two goals and Mohamed Abdou one for Rainbow while the Thorplands tally was shared between Ryan Crooks, Gerome Latwian and Jess Patell. FC Crispin recorded a 4-1 victory against University of Northampton thanks to a well taken hat-trick from Marc Hall and singles from Russ Aitkin, Ryan Fowkes and Chris Mann which left Harvey Keating 2 and Tom Richards to reply for the students. Delapre Old Boy’s influential skipper Ant Kirby led from the front as he helped himself to a threesome to go with a two goal salvo from Darren Andrew as Delapre beat Liberty Stars 4-1.

Harlequins Reserves eased to a 3-0 win over Spinney Hill 2010. Shaun Jones, Liam Davies and James Walsh all got on the score sheet for Harlequins. James King Blisworth ‘A’ just edged out Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves by the odd goal in five. Blisworth’s goals were shared between Tom Vaughn, Dean Ball and Gary Heyhoe. Orchard Park replied via David Kelly and Rory Wildman.

 

 

NORTHANTS F.A. LOWER  JUNIOR CUP – 1ST ROUND

 

An opportunist goal from Gareth Errington gave Mereway United the lead against UCL side Raunds United Reserves. However that was as good as it got for United as Raunds superior fitness told in the end as they ran out 5-1 victors. Obelisk United went out at the hands of James King Blisworth Reserves 4-1 with Terrence Williams getting on the score sheet for Obelisk. Brixworth Reserves beat Thorplands Club 81 6-1 who’s only strike was scored by Liam Fox. Wellingborough Saxons hammered Northants Police 10-1.  Gavin Suttie netted the consolation for the Police. Harpole  Reserves had no trouble knocking West Haddon Reserves out 6-1 leaving Andy Wright to hit the target for Haddon.

NORTHANTS F.A. LES UNDERWOOD JUNIOR CUP – 1ST ROUND

Northampton Harlequins progressed into the next round by beating Kislingbury from the Northants Combination 1-0 with the Quins veteran Lee McFarlane netting the all important goal. Delapre Old Boys were just edged out by Weldon United 1-0 in an ill tempered game that saw 2 red cards and 6 yellow. A.F.C.Wombles made the long trip to Eye Sports and Social Club and came away with a hard earned 2-1 victory over the Peterborough League side. After going behind the Wombles fought back with a double strike from Olly Urquhart.

SPA played host to UCL outfit Rothwell Town and went down 5-2 despite strikes for Darren Burnett and Jason Nixon.  FC Crispin were defeated 4-0 by Whitefield Norpol while Rosebery Rangers went out by the only goal of the game to Ringstead Rangers. Thorplands United had a day to forget as they were hammered 12-0 by Brixworth All Saints. UCL Division One front runners Sileby Rangers coasted to a 7-0 success against a game Hometech side. Denton made it three wins out of three as they came away from North Bucks League side Silverstone with an emphatic 4-2 triumph. Robbie O’Neil led the scoring for Denton grabbing a brace and a goal a-piece from Steven Moss and Ryan Machardie completed the victory.

Leaders Mereway United beat Northants Police 5-1 with Gareth Errington, Michael Dunkley, Dirk Campling, Jack Winkel and Anthony Broadbelt all getting on the score sheet for Mereway leaving Jack Grant to score for the Police. Thorplands Club 81 and Harlequins Reserves couldn’t be separated in an amazing game that ended in a 7-7 stalemate. The Thorplands marksmen were Michael Uranie 2, Dan Harding 2, Johnny Dee, James Morgan, Dan Oats and Danny Phear. The Quins second string’s reply came courtesy of a Shane Ranft threesome plus solo efforts from Liam Davies, Ben Brown, Steve Jeltz and Ashley Boden. Harborough Town got the better of Kettering Orchard Park United Reserves 3-1. Town’s goals were shared between Reno DeMarco, Harry Parker and Charlie Tate which left Tom Bonner to hit Orchard Parks retort.

Denton made it two victories in as many games as they just edged out SPA by the odd goal in five. Dominic Richardson hit the target for SPA to give them hope but a goal a-piece from Ryan Machardie and Steven Moss ensured all three points for the villagers. In a close encounter reigning champions Northampton Harlequins were indebted to an Andy Condon penalty for their 1-0 success over newcomers Rainbow Club. A Marc Hall hat-trick and singles from Wayne Cockerill and Chris Mann earned F.C.Crispin a 5-2 triumph over A.F.C.Wombles who replied with a Jamie Ellis double strike. Delapre Old Boys eased to a 4-1 win against Hometech courtesy of a brace from Darren Andrew and strikes from Ant Kirby and Andy Seaton leaving Chris Gale to net Hometechs consolation.

Ace marksman Gareth Errington led the scoring for Mereway grabbing five goals to go with singles from Dan Letts, Wayne Leader and Jack Winkel.

The two newly promoted clubs locked horns and in the performance of the day Denton romped to a 6-1 victory over last season’s Division One Champions A.F.C.Wombles. Johnny Shakespeare and Robbie O’Neil grabbed a brace each and singles from Adrian Cummins and Jamie Turner completed the villagers tally. All Wombles could muster was a solitary strike from Stuart McDermott.

Reigning Premier Division Champions, Harlequins hit the floor running with a convincing 7-1 triumph over Thorplands United. Rhys Coleman led the scoring for the Quins with a well taken hat-trick and was well supported by Matt Thornbar, Andy London, Ben Lewington and Andre Liburd who all netted one a-piece. Thorplands consolation came via Jerome Lothian. Reformed Roseberry Rangers got off to good start beating Hometech 5-2 courtesy of a double strike for Aaron Chilton plus singles from Will Brain, Ben  Roddis and Craig Merrick while Chris Fury and Dave Saunders replied for Hometech. In an end to end match SPA edged out Liberty Stars by the odd goal in five thanks to goals from Ricky Smith, Dom Richardson and Adam Clark leaving Elvis Ansu and Dale Ebank to hit Liberty’s retort.

Mereway United went nap against James King Blisworth ‘A’ winning 5-0. United were indebted to a two goal salvo from Gareth Errington and strikes from Mike Dunkley, Wayne Leader and James Brookes. Another team who scored five was Obelisk United who beat a youthful looking Harborough Town ‘A’ 5-0. Three goals from Mihai Ciularu and a twosome from Alexandru Iordon ensured the victory. Harlequins Reserves made it an excellent day for the club as they claimed the scalps of Northants Police with a 4-1 score line. Sam Gardiner hit the target for the boys in blue but a three timer from Steven Jeltz and a solo effort from Ashley Boden allowed the Quins second string to ease home. Spinney Hill got their season off to a super start with a 5-2 success against Thorplands Club 81. Strikes from Martin Lewawez and James Morgan gave Club 81 hope but a three timer from James Brown and a goal a-piece for Daniel Oats and Ben Gibson earned Spinney Hill the points. West Haddon Reserves just got the better of Kettering Orchard Park Reserves 2-1 with strikes from Dan Brown and George McArthur cancelling out Dan Kelly’s lone goal.
