The Annual Northampton Town league 6-a-side tournament, once again sponsored by the Chronicle & Echo, will take place at the Spencer Football Club ground, St Andrews Road on Saturday 11th July. The following day Sunday 12th July the veteran’s over 35’s competition will take place at the same venue. Cotton Hill complete League cup double!
 

TOWN LEAGUE CUP FINAL

 

On Wednesday Cotton Hill added the Northampton Town League Cup to the Premier Division Championship they had already won to make it a League and Cup double. A large crowd watched a very close final played at Spencer Football Club’s ground, Cotton Hill beat Obelisk United 6-1 after extra time. Obelisk took the lead in the 61st minute and held the lead until four minutes from time when the prolific Ashford Campbell kept his cool to slot home the equaliser in clinical fashion to take the match into extra time. The Obelisk lads were visibley down hearted and the newly crowned Premier Division Champions showed no mercy as they rattled in five more goals through Nat Liburd 2, Andy Seaton, Theo Sterling and another strike from Ashford Campbell.

Mr Peter Smith of Peter Smith Recruitment , the League’s main sponsors presented the Cup and medals at the conclusion.

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Newly crowned Premier Division Champions Cotton Hill rounded off the season with a 3-2 victory over Gorell Barnes Cup Winners University of Northampton. A double strike from Greg Pitt gave the Students hope however a brace for Andy Seaton and a solo effort from James Allcock rounded off a perfect campaign for Cotton Hill who finished five points clear of runners up Northampton Harlequins.

Newly crowned Premier Division Champions Cotton Hill rounded off the season with a 3-2 victory over Gorell Barnes Cup Winners University of Northampton. A double strike from Greg Pitt gave the Students hope however a brace for Andy Seaton and a solo effort from James Allcock rounded off a perfect campaign for Cotton Hill who finished five points clear of runners up Northampton Harlequins.

The Northampton Town League Cup Final will take place on Tuesday 12TH. May at Spencer F.C. where Cotton Hill will take on Obelisk United with a 7.30pm kick off. Neither team have won the trophy before so it is ensured that a new name will appear on the cup but Cotton Hill could make it a League and Cup double if they win. All welcome to come along and support the Town League.

NORTHAMPTON TOWN GORELL BARNES CUP FINAL

In front of a large sun drenched crowd at Sixfields, University of Northampton lifted the Gorell Barnes Cup after Hitec Roofline took them to extra time. Joe Dewar put the Roofers into lead early on before Greg Pitt levelled things in the 28th minute. Then the student’s inspirational skipper Jamie Poole put the University 2-1 in the lead but Hitec equalised when the impressive Paul Pickering latched onto a through ball and rounded Matthew McFarlane, the Scholars keeper to roll the ball into the net and take the tie into extra time. In the extra period the students superior fitness really told and it was no surprise when the University went 3-2 up with a Ryan Winsley effort. Hitec looked out on their feet and a quick fire hat-trick from Sam Cormac in the last eight minutes secured a 6-2 victory for the scholars. Sally Keable MP presented the Cup to the winning captain at the conclusion of the game.

NORTHAMPTON TOWN F.A. NBC CUP FINAL

Long Buckby Ravens stunned much fancied Ashley Rovers as they raced into a 3-0 first half lead courtesy of strikes from Carlos Gittens, Nathan Smith and Glenn Moore. Ashley came more into the game in the second half but a further goal from Luke Jones completed a comprehensive 4-0 triumph which enabled the Ravens skipper to receive the NBC cup for the first time in their history from Mr Matthew Smith of Peter Smith Recruitment.

 

PREMIER DIVISION

 

In mid-week Delapre Old Boys were too strong for Obelisk United as they eased to a 6-1 success. Ant Kirby led the way with a well taken threesome and was well supported with a double strike from Dan Molyneaux and a single from Jon Lucas leaving Russ Aitkin to net the Obelisk consolation. Thorplands United and Airflow fought out a 4-4 stale mate with Alex Duggan 2, Tom Bluck and Gary Duggan accounting for the Thorplands strikes and Jamie Ellis and Stephen O’Brien both hitting the target twice for Airflow.

 

DIVISION ONE

 

A strong University of Northampton Reserve team ended Real Dragoon’s runners up aspirations with a 7-3 beating with Chris Eustace 3, Sam Cormac 2 and Simon Greathead 2 scoring for the students which left Chris Higgins, Nick Renda and Ben Turvey to hit the pub men’s reply.  James King Blisworth sprang a surprise on SPA with a 4-2 defeat. Jason Driver and Martin Kingsnorth found the net for SPA but a Theo Short brace to go with singles from Aiden Collier and Andy King gave the points to the villagers.

 

Eleanor Cleaning Services April ‘Ball of the Month’

The Eleanor Cleaning Services April Ball of the Month winners are premier Division outfit Thorplands United   who scored 14 goals in the month of April.   

 

‘MANAGER OF THE MONTH’ FOR APRIL

The Manager of the Month for April is the newly crowned Division One Champions Ashley Rovers boss, Danny Finnis who guided his team to five victories and a draw in the month. Rovers beat Corby Strip Mills Reserves 5-1, Thorplands United Reserves 2-1, Long Buckby Ravens 2-1, University of Northampton Reserves 8-3, Real Dragoon 3-2 and drew with Northants Police 2-2.

League Cupo Final

ROUND UP 18/04/09

LEAGUE CUP SEMI-FINAL

 

This seasons Town League Cup Final will be contested between Champions elect Cotton Hill and Obelisk United at Spencer F.C. on Tuesday 12TH. May.

Obelisk United took highly fancied University of Northampton to extra time before clinching a 5-3 victory. Greg Pitt hit the target twice and Simon Greathead once for the students however a Carl White brace and one a-piece for Russ Aitkin, Gareth Morris and Jordon Kirton ensured an unlikely success for Obelisk.

The other semi-final saw Cotton Hill defeat their near rivals Far Cotton Loco 3-1 courtesy of  a double strike from the prolific Ashley Campbell and a solo effort from James Allcock leaving Jonathan Dowling to hit Loco’s retort.

 

PREMIER DIVISION

Bottom club Denton found some good form as they eased to a 4-1 triumph over Thorplands United. Johnny Shakespeare helped himself to a twosome to go with singles from Tom Denny and Rob O’Neil which left Dennis Bright Wilson to net for Thorplands. Airflow just edged out Delapre Old Boys by the odd goal in three thanks to a double strike from James Clark while Delapre replied via Jonathan Lucas.

DIVISION ONE

SPA coasted to a 3-0 victory over Northampton Harlequins Reserves with KevinMarson scoring two goals to go with one from Steve Marson. Northants Police and James King Blisworth ‘A’ fought out a goalless draw as both defences were well on top in a tight match. Ashley Rovers went four points clear at the summit on the back of a 2-1 success over Long Buckby Ravens. A strike from Glen Moore gave Ravens hope but goals from Marc Hall and Simon Finnis secured the points for Ashley.

On Wednesday Northants Police held leaders Ashley Rovers to a 2-2 stalemate with Andrew Hall and James Larkins netting for the boys in blue and Marc Hall and Aaron Rolfe doing likewise for Rovers. A solitary goal from Nick Renda continued Real Dragoon’s good run with a 1-0 triumph over SPA to consolidate third position.

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Cotton Hill all but ensured the Premier Division title after hammering bottom dogs Denton 6-0. A double strike from Barry Swallow to go with singles from Martin Feasey, Andy Seaton, James Allcock and Robert Barton saw Cotton Hill ease home and leaves them requiring only a point to win the title from their remaining two games. In a high scoring game Airflow and Thorplands United fought out a 4-4 draw. Airflow’s top scorer Jamie Ellis netted twice and Steve O’Brien and Shane Price once each leaving Ryan Cooke to hit a brace and Tom Bluck and Dave Duggan one a-piece for Thorplands. Reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins were held to a 3-3 stale mate against Far Cotton Loco and relinquished their hold on the Premier Division Cup. Andy Ranft hit a twosome and Ashley Fleming netted a solo effort for the Quins while a Jonathan Dowling double and a single from Nathan Mason accounted for Loco’s tally. Hitec Roofline and Delapre Old Boys also shared the points as they couldn’t be separated at 2-2. Terrence Williams and Joe Dewar scored for the Roofers while Ant Kirby and Scott Ramsey did likewise for Delapre.

DIVISION ONE

 

Ashley Rovers hit the top of the table for the first time this season after getting the better of Thorplands United Reserves by the odd goal in three. Rover’s ace marksman Marc Hall hit the target twice which left Dennis Wilson to score Thorplands retort. Real Dragoon made it nine games without defeat with a 3-1 success over Northants Police. Nick Renda scored two and Nicholas Hamilton one for the pub men while Sam Gardner netted the Police reply. Long Buckby Ravens are hot on the heels of Real Dragoon in fourth place after beating Harlequins Reserves 5-3. Shane Ranft with two strikes and Steve Jelch with one gave Harlequins hope however singles from Bob Lane, Luke Jones, Aaron Jones, Tom Dawson and Carlos Gittens saw Ravens grab all three points.

Two goal Martin Kingsnorth was SPA’s hero as he helped his team to a 2-1 victory over Corby Strip Mills Reserves. James McKay found the net for Strip Mills.

TOWN LEAGUE REP TEAM WIN AGAIN!

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Rock bottom Denton recorded their first League success of the season by beating Far Cotton Loco 2-1. Jon Dowling netted for Loco however strikes from Tom Baker and Jonathan Shakespear ensured victory for the villagers at their seventeenth attempt. It proved to be a good day for Hitec Roofline as they inflicted a 3-2 defeat on reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins. Paul Pickering, Calvin Keable and Joe Dewer all got on the score sheet for the Roofers which left Lee McFarlane and Courtney Herbert to hit the target for the Quins. Cotton Hill took full advantage of Harlequins demise as they overcame Obelisk United 4-2 to go three points clear at the summit.  The League’s leading scorer Ashford Campbell helped himself  to two more goals to take his seasons League tally to thirty. The other Cotton Hill goals came from Martin Feasey and an own goal.Strikes from Jordon Kirton and Gareth Morris accounted for the Obelisk reply. Delapre Old Boy’s just edged out Thorplands United by the odd goal in three.  Delapre were indebted to a double strike from Scott Ramsey while Tom Bluck scored the Thorplands retort.

In a game dominated by both defences Airflow and Hometech couldn’t be separated as they fought out a goalless draw.

 

 

DIVISION ONE

 

In form Ashley Rovers eased to a 5-1 triumph over Corby Strip Mills Reserves thanks to a brace a-piece from Aaron Rolfe and Stephen Hollis plus a solo effort from Scott Walden leaving Shaun Muir to grab Strip Mills consolation.  Long time leaders Liberty Stars dip in form continued as they were held to a 3-3 stalemate by lowly James King Blisworth ‘A’. Richard Husbands, Adam Collier and Laurence David were on target for Blisworth while a Lynval Da Costa twosome and a single from Darren Narain gave Liberty a share of the points. Real Dragoon are lying in third spot following a 4-3 victory over Long Buckby Ravens. The pubmens goals were shared between Nick Renda, Rion Best, Ben Turvey and Bob Kinning . The Ravens goals were scored by Nathan Smith, Tom Dawson and Glen Moore.

Northampton Harlequins Reserves drew 1-1 with SPA in a very evenly matched game. Aaron Bradshaw netted for Harlequins and Pat O’Connell did likewise for SPA.

 

 

 

THE F.A. CARLSBERG NATIONAL LEAGUE SYSTEM CUP

 

The Northampton Town League Representative team progressed into the next Round with a narrow 2-1 victory over the Hampshire Premier League in the Preliminary Round of the National League System Cup played at Cogenhoe United F.C. The Town League raced into the lead with a Jonathan Dowling effort after only eight minutes and it stayed like that until ten minutes from the end when Hampshire equalised. With extra time looming a wicked in swinging Paul Pickering corner kick was diverted into the net by a Hampshire defender for an own goal to ensure the Town League will be in the hat for the draw for the next round.

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins leapfrogged long time leaders Cotton Hill after inflicting a resounding 5-0 victory on them. Double strikes from Rhys Coleman and Liam Davies plus a solo effort from Lee McFarlane was enough to see the Quins collect the three points to keep the chase for the Premier Division title alive. Hometech inflicted a first defeat in eight games on University of Northampton with a 4-2 score line. Ashley Gale led the scoring for Hometech with a brace and was well supported with a goal a-piece from Charlie Whiting and Gary Marks which left Simon Greathead and Ryan Winsley to net the students retort. Bottom markers Denton held third placed Hitec Roofline to a 2-2 stale mate. Robbie O’Neal hit the target for Denton while Phil O’Brien did likewise for Hitec. Far Cotton Loco just edged out Airflow by the odd goal in five courtesy of a well taken hat-trick from the in-form Jon Dowling. Airflow’s marksmen were James Clark and Steve O’Brien.

DIVISION ONE

 

Leaders Liberty Stars went down 5-1 to Long Buckby Ravens with Michael Donhoe hitting a twosome for Ravens and Glen Moore, Bob Line, and Nathan Smith grabbing singles leaving Liberty’s reply to come via Lynval Da Costa. Ashley Rovers are hot on the heels of Liberty after easing to a 6-1 success over Northampton Harlequins Reserves and are now only five points behind with four games in hand. Rovers strikes were shared equally between Paul Craven, Simon Finnis, Marc Hall, Aaron Rolfe, Craig Finnis and an own goal while Alan Bradshaw scored Harlequin’s consolation. A Chris Jones hat-trick and solo strikes from Karl Greenham  and Andrew Hall enabled Northants Police to record a 5-2 triumph over Corby Strip Mills Reserves who replied through Neil McMillan , with a 25 yard block buster, and Colin Bell. Thorplands United Reserves beat James King Blisworth ‘A’ 3-1 thanks to a couple of goals from Dennis Wilson and one from Steve Carroll. The villager’s lone retort came from Chris Toner.

 

NATIONAL LEAGUE SYSTEM CUP

 

On Wednesday 1ST. April the Northampton Town League Representative team will be taking on Hampshire Premier League in the Preliminary round of the National League System Cup at Cogenhoe F.C.’s ground, 7.30 kick off. Come along and support the Town League.

 

 

Eleanor Cleaning Services March ‘Ball of the Month’

LEAGUE CUP QUARTER – FINALS

 

Far Cotton Loco got the better of Division One high flyers Ashley Rovers 5-2 thanks to a brace from Jon Dowling and one a-piece from Nathan Mason, Wayne Cockerill and Richard Richards while Rovers two hot shots, Marc Hall and Aaron Rolfe netted their retort. Premier Division leaders Cotton Hill progressed into the semi-finals with a 6-3 triumph over Airflow. The League’s leading scorer Ashford Campbell hit the target four times to go with singles from Andy Seaton and Andrew  Hopkinson for the Far Cotton side leaving Jamie Ellis and Nick Harding to score for Airflow. After ninety minutes Long Buckby Ravens and Obelisk United were locked at 2-2 with strikes from Nathan Smith and Bob Lane for Buckby and Lee Abrahams and Carl White for Obelisk. A further goal from Mitchell Donhoe gave Ravens hope but a twosome from Russ Aitkin helped Obelisk win 4-3 after extra time.  Thorplands United went into the lead against University of Northampton with a Tom Bluck effort however a double strike from the prolific Sam Cormac ensured the students went through 2-1.

 

 

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Hitec Roofline discovered their shooting boots as they hammered Hometech 7-0. Michael Foames scored a well taken hat trick and was well supported by Robert Bolton who netted twice and Calvin Keable and Wayne Lancaster who hit one each to leave  Hometech well beaten..

 

DIVISION ONE

 

Real Dragoon moved up to third spot on the back of a comfortable 4-0 victory over Corby Strip Mills Reserves. Nick Renda, James Brown, Alan Lovell and Nick Hamilton all got on the score sheet for the pub men.

Harlequins Reserves went nap against James King Blisworth ‘A’ with a 5-1 success. The Quins goals were shared between Shane Ranft, Heath Johnson and brothers, Scott and Aaron Bradshaw. The villager’s consolation was converted by Aiden King.

University of Northampton Reserves and Thorplands United Reserves couldn’t be separated as they fought out a 1-1 stalemate. Touisant Samuel hit the target for the scholars while Thorpland’s  equaliser came via Liam Fox.

Thorplands United found some good form as they coasted to a 4-1 triumph over Far Cotton Loco to move out of the bottom two places. Thorplands were indebted to a super hat-trick from Tom Bluck and a single strike from Dan Oats which left Sam Lavell to net Loco’s reply. Cotton Hill maintained their three point cushion at the summit with a narrow 2-1 victory over Airflow courtesy of a goal a-piece from Ashford Campbell and Theo Sterling while a Paul Reynolds effort accounted for Airflow’s retort. Delapre Old Boy’s and Hometech fought out a 2-2 stale mate with Martyn Stones and Paul Cranswick netting for Delapre and James Page and Sam Abbott doing likewise for Hometech. University of Northampton just edged out Hitec Roofline by the odd goal in seven. A double strike from Terrence Williams and a solo effort from Darren McWilliams gave Hitec hope but a three timer from Ian Powell plus a single from Sam Cormac earned the points for the students. Reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins eased to a 3-0 success against Obelisk United thanks to a brace from Courtney Herbert and a goal from Rhyse Coleman.

Ashley Rovers look set for promotion after recording a 3-2 victory over SPA. Rover’s strikes were shared between Aaron Rolfe, Scott Walden and Stephen Hollis leaving Dean Morgan and Martin Kingsnorth to score for SPA.  Real Dragoon held leaders Liberty Stars to a 0-0 draw in a game dominated by both defences Thorplands United Reserves beat Northants Police 2-1 to make it a successful day for the club. Alan Muncherji and Paul Carrol hit the target for Thorplands while Chris Jones netted for the ‘boys in blue.’ University of Northampton Reserves and Northampton Harlequins Reserves couldn’t be separated as they drew 3-3. Hitec Roofline condemned League leaders Cotton Hill to a surprise 3-1 defeat thanks to a twosome from Darren McWilliams and a solo effort from Mark Pittams which left Ashford Campbell to net Cotton’s retort. Reigning Champions Northampton Harlequins moved up to second spot just three points behind Cotton Hill on the back of a 3-1 triumph over Airflow. The Quins strikes were shared between Courtney Herbert, Andy Ranft and Lee McFarlane while Airflow’s lone reply came via Steve O’Brien. Delapre Old Boys and Far Cotton Loco couldn’t be separated in their local derby match that finished with a 3-3 score line. Ant Kirby, Martyn Stones and an own goal accounted for Delapre’s tally where as goals from Sam Lavelle, Nathan Mason and Jon Dowling earned Loco a share of the points. Obelisk United maintained their mid-table position after beating bottom markers Denton 5-3. Carl White led the way for Obelisk with a well taken hat-trick with the other goals coming from Steve Healey and Bryn Constable. Denton’s Omar Samaloussi helped himself to a brace to go with a strike from Adrian Cummins as the villagers went down to their thirteenth league defeat of the season. University of Northampton were in sparkling form as they annihilated Thorplands United 7-0. The students four goal hero was Sam Cormac with the rest of the goals coming from Greg Pitt, Victor Gonzalez and Ryan Wynsley.

 

DIVISION ONE

 

Liberty Stars emphatic 4-0 success over Thorplands United Reserves saw them go thirteen points clear at the summit. Lynval Da Costa hit a treble for stars to go with a single from Shamus Fitzgerald. Corby Strip Mills and Long Buckby Ravens fought out a 1-1 stalemate with Danny Hargin netting for Strip Mills and Phil Moss doing likewise for Ravens. Northants Police recorded their third victory of the season as they eased to a 4-0 triumph over struggling University of Northampton Reserves courtesy of a double strike from James Larkins and singles from Andy Hall and Karl Greenham.  Real Dragoon are lying in second place after a hard earned 2-0 victory over Harlequins Reserves. James Brown’s two goal salvo was instrumental in the pub men’s triumph.

 

LEAGUE CUP 2ND. ROUND

 

Ashley Rovers progressed into the next round of the League Cup with a 4-1 success over SPA. Martin Kingsnorth hit the target for SPA but two goals a-piece from the prolific Marc Hall and Aaron Rolf  gave Rovers a place in the Quarter Finals.

Premier Division leaders Cotton Hill edged reigning Champions Harlequins out of the League Cup by the odd goal in five. Nathanial Liburd, Ashford Campbell and Martin Feasey hit the target for Cotton Hill while a Ashley Fleming effort plus an own goal accounted for the Quins reply. Airflow eased to a 4-0 triumph over James King Blisworth ‘A’ courtesy of strikes from Jamie Ellis, Richard Ellis, Stuart McDermott and Craig Lee. Long Buckby Ravens progressed into the next round after seeing off Northants Police 3-1. Carl Gittens, Bob Lane and Nick Pankewycz all got on the score sheet for Ravens which left Chris Jones to net the Police retort. SPA and Corby Strip Mills reserves were locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes with Martin Kingsnorth hitting a twosome for SPA and Sean Muir and Colin Bell one a-piece for Strip Mills. However singles from Pat O’Connell and Steve Marson in extra time saw SPA gain victory.

 

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Thorplands United discovered their scoring boots as they beat Obelisk United 6-3 thanks to double strikes from both Josh Dawson and Tom Bluck plus a solo effort from Dan Oats and an own goal . The Obelisk goals were shared between Jack Barker, Russ Aitkins and Lee Abrahams. A solitary Paul Pickering strike was enough to earn Hitec Roofline a 1-0 success over Far Cotton Loco.  Hometech recorded a 1-0 victory over bottom markers Denton with Sam Abbott scoring the all important goal and Gary Marks even went on to miss a penalty for the victors.

University of Northampton were beating Delapre Old Boys 5-2 when the game was abandoned by the referee in approximately the 70th minute due to Delapre having five players sent off.

 

DIVISION ONE

 

Liberty Stars returned to winning ways with a 2-0 success over Harlequins Reserves moving ten points clear at the summit. Shamus Fitzgerald was liberty’s two goal hero. Real dragoon went nap against Thorplands United Reserves as the won 5-1 courtesy of strikes from Sam Al-Haj 2, Steve Warner, Nick Renda and Darren Brown. Thorplands consolation came via Kevin Fox.

INTER LEAGUE MATCH

 

The first game in the resurrected four leagues Bi-annual Competition involving the Bedfordshire League, Peterborough & District League, Northants Combination and Northampton Town League, saw the Town League record an emphatic 5-2 victory over the Northants Combination. Tom Liversedge put the Combination into the lead with a well struck shot from 20 yards only for the Town League to draw level just before the interval with a Nathanial Liburd penalty. Another Liversedge strike immediately after half time once again gave the Combination the advantage but up popped Paul Pickering to hit two goals in quick succession to give the Town League the lead for the first time in the match. Further goals from Martin feasey and Michael Betts put the result beyond doubt and saw the Town League manager, Charlie Fleming  go home a happy man.

Division One outfit Northants Police held Denton, from the Premier division to a 0-0 score line after 90 minutes and extra time and eventually proceeded to the next round after winning 6-5 in the penalty shootout. Airflow just edged out Hometech by the odd goal in five thanks to goals from Jamie Ellis, Richard Ellis and Steve O’Brien which left Karl Brown and Michael Betts to net Hometechs retort. Far Cotton Loco brought Delapre Old Boys recent good run to an abrupt halt with a 6-1 hammering. Double strikes from Jon Dowling and Sam Lavelle plus a goal a-piece from Martin Brown and Paul Panter accounted for Loco’s tally while all Delapre could muster in reply was a solitary strike from Scott Ramsey. University of Northampton went nap against Hitec Roofline as they won 5-1 with their goals being shared between Greg Pitt, Sam Cormac, James Longbottom, Ian Powell and Nathan Derry. Hitec’s consolation came via Paul Pickering. The prolific Courtney Herbert led the scoring with a well taken hat-trick while a brace from Liam Davies and one a-piece from Andy Ranft and Dan Clarke made up the Quins tally. Obelisk United hit some good form as they edged out Hitec Roofline 2-1. Paul Pickering hit the target for Hitec but strikes from Steve Healey and Carl White earned Obelisk a welcome victory. James King Blisworth ‘A’ recorded only their third victory of the season with a 2-1 triumph over University of Northampton Reserves. Jon Byrne scored for the students however strikes from Chris Toner and Phil Sullivan was enough for the villagers to grab the points which enabled them to move out of the bottom two places.

NORTHAMPTON TOWN F.A. N.B.C. CUP SEMI-FINAL

 

This seasons N.B.C.Cup Final will be contested between Ashley Rovers and Long Buckby Ravens after they beat Real Dragoon and SPA respectively. Ashley Rover edged out Real Dragoon 3-2 thanks to goals from Marc Hall, Craig Finnis and Scott Walden leaving Alan Lovell to net the pub men’s two goal retort.

In the other semi-final SPA raced into a 2-0 lead through efforts from Jason Driver and Martin Kingsnorth but that was as good as it got for SPA as Glen Moore, Bob Lane and Kerrith Belfon all got on the score sheet for the Ravens to make a Cup Final date with Ashley Rovers at Sixfields.

Cotton Hill continue to head the Division with a narrow 2-1 success over local rivals Far Cotton Loco. Jonathan Dowling netted for Loco but two goals from Andy Seaton gave Cotton Hill victory.

University of Northampton beat Airflow 3-1 with Sam Lee, Greg Pitt and Victor Gonzales getting on the score sheet for the students while a lone strike from Mark Robinson was all Airflow could muster in reply. University will play Hitec Roofline in the final at Six Fields after the Roofers eliminated Obelisk United 4-2. Bryn Constable and Matthew Somerton hit the target for Obelisk however a Joe Derwer twosome and single strikes from Michael Foames and Carl Parsons enabled Hitec to make a date with the scholars in the final.

Obelisk replied with efforts from Carl White and Stephen Healey. Far Cotton Loco recorded their third League victory of the season by overcoming bottom markers Denton 8-1. Thorplands United Reserves recorded a welcome 3-2 win over James King Blisworth 'A'. Strikes from Bob Anderson and Ashley Brian gave the villagers hope but singles for Spence, Trueman and Watson earned Thorplands the points. Real Dragoon eased to a 5-1 success over University of Northampton Reserves. Rion Best was the pub mens three goal hero and he was supported with a goal each from Ben Turvey and Sami Al-Haj. All the students could muster was a solitary goal from John Egan. Ashley Rovers hit the goal trail as they hammered Corby Strip Mills Reserves 6-1. Obelisk United progressed into the next round with a hard earned 5-2 victory over bottom markers Denton. Ben Cooke and Rob O’Neil hit the target for the villagers but a Steve Healey double and one a-piece from Russ Aitkin, Matt Summerton and Jordon Kirton saw Obelisk home. University of Northampton just edged out Far Cotton Loco by the odd goal in five thanks to a double strike from Greg Pitt and a solo effort from Jon Phipps while a James White strike and an own goal accounted for Loco’s retort. In a high scoring match Airflow knocked out high flying Cotton Hill 5-4with ace marksman Jamie Ellis netting a hat trick to go with singles from Stuart McDermott and Paul Reynolds leaving Cotton Hill to reply with a Martin Feasey treble and a strike from Ashford Campbell. Hitec Roofline put an end to Delapre Old Boys recent successful run by inflicting a 3-1 defeat on the Far Cotton side. Terrence Williams hit a twosome and Joe Dewar added a single for the ‘Roofers’ which left Mark Partington to net Delapre’s solitary goal.

DIVISION ONE

 

SPA moved up to level second with Long Buckby Ravens after recording an emphatic 4-1 triumph over them. Keith Finson and Jason Driver were the SPA heroes with two goals each while Ravens consolation came via Shamue Chaudhury. Northant Police made it two wins in as many weeks with a comfortable 4-0 success over James King Blisworth ‘A’. James Larkin netted a threesome to go with a single from Gavin Suttie for the boys in blue. Harlequins Reserves defeated Real Dragoon 5-2 courtesy of a double strike from Steve Jeltch and one a-piece for Elliott Muddiman, Steve Mullins and Lee Wilson while efforts from Ben Cooke and Sami Al-Haj made up the pub men’s tally. University of Northampton Reserves beat Thorplands United Reserves 4-2 making it a good day for the club. Joe Byrne netted twice to go with strikes from Simon Greathead and Tom Wood for the students which left Elliott Haynes and Liam Fox to score for Thorplands.

Ashley Rovers made the long trip to Peterborough Caster & Ailsworth and despite scoring three times with a Marc Hall brace and an Aaron Rolfe strike went down 6-3.

Reigning Champions Harlequins took over at the top of the table after just edging out Far Cotton Loco by the odd goal in three. Ryan Fowkes netted for Loco and Ashley Fleming hit the target for the Quins but with time running out up popped Andy Ranft to score the winner for the champions. Airflow leapfrogged University of Northampton to move up to third place with a 4-2 victory over the students. Airflow’s two goal hero was Olly Urquhat who was well supported with singles from Jamie Ellis and Steve O’Brien while Sam Cormac hit both goals for the scholars. In a high scoring match Obelisk United and Hometech fought out a 4-4 stalemate with Tony Linnell, Karl White, Gareth Morris and Sam Wright sharing the Obelisk goals leaving Terrence Dunk, Darren Andrew, Michael Betts and Craig Dyball to reply for Hometech. Delapre Old Boys made it four wins in a row with a 3-2 triumph over Hitec Roofline thanks to a goal a-piece from Neil Jarrett, Scott Ramsey and veteran striker Wayne Ventour. Hitec were indebted to a double strike from Joe Dewar.  Thorplands United remain in mid table following their 4-2 success over bottom markers Denton. Dan Cooke and Sam Wade netted for Denton however single strikes from Steve Brown, Steve Carroll, Sam Duggan and Jamie Morris were enough to earn victory for Thorplands.

James King Blisworth ‘A’ turned the form book upside down as they recorded their first league victory of the season beating high flying SPA 3-2 courtesy of a Lawrence David hat trick which left Andy Sibbald and Martin Kingsnorth to hit the SPA retort. Liberty Stars moved seven points clear at the summit after beating Harlequins Reserves 4-1 with Shamus Fitzgerald netting a brace and Said Said and Gabriel Vijent scoring one each. All Harlequins could muster was a solitary goal from Ben Smith. Real Dragoon beat Corby Strip Mills Reserves 5-3with Ben Turvey 2, Alan Lovell, Nick Renda and Steve Warner all getting on the score sheet for the pub men and Ricky Gurvan, Michael Greer and Scott McKinnon netting for Strip Mills. In a battle of the bottom two teams, Northants Police and Thorplands United shared the points in a 2-2 draw with Sam Gardiner and Barry Naseby hitting the back of the net for the Police and High McDowell and Liam Fox doing likewise for Thorplands. Ashley Rovers found some good form as they romped to an 8-1 victory over University of Northampton Reserves.  The Rovers marksmen were Marc Hall 3, Aaron Rolfe 2, Jon Freeman 2 and Kegan Ward while a Kunal Kumar solo effort accounted for the University lone reply.

A hat trick from Adrian Cummins gave Denton hope but a treble strike from Ashley Campbell and a goal a-piece from Martin Feasey and Andy Seaton saw the leaders snatch victory. Reigning Champions Harlequins stayed hot on the heels of Cotton Hill after overcoming Thorplands United 5-1. Lee Wilson led the scoring with a threesome and was supported with goals from Andy Ranft and Rhyse Coleman leaving Eddie Stewart to net Thorplands consolation. Delapre Old Boys made it three victories on the trot with a hard fought 2-1 success over near neighbours Far Cotton Loco. Neil Jarrett and Martin Stones both hit the target for Delapre while Michael Brown scored Loco’s reply. University of Northampton moved up to third place on the back of a

 5-4 triumph over Hitech Roofline courtesy of double strikes from Greg Pitt and Sam Cormac plus a solo effort from Tom Lucy. Hitecs goals were shared between Terrence Williams, Paul Pickering, Gavin Spencer and Robert Bolton. Another high scoring tie saw Northants Police record their second victory of the season by beating Corby Strip Mills 5-4 after extra time. Doubles for Sam Gardiner and Andrew Hall plus a solo strike from Chris Jones accounted for the Police tally whereas Scott McKinnon’s two efforts to go with one from Shaun Muir plus an own goal made up Strip Mills score.

The College boys raced into a 2-0 lead with strikes from Greg Pitt and Sam Cormac however a Neil Jarrett brace and a solo effort from Luke Dickens secured the points for Delapre. Thorplands United just edged out Far Cotton Loco by the odd goal in five in a close contest. Steve Brown, Eddy Stewart and Dan Stewart scored the Thorplands goals while a goal a-piece from Martin Brown and Michael Brown accounted for Loco’s reply. Cotton Hill maintained their three point cushion at the summit after easing to a 6-1 triumph over Hitec Roofline. Ace marksman Barry Swallow led the way with a double strike to go with one each from Ashford Campbell, Theo Sterling, Andy Seaton and James Allcock which left Phil O’Brien to net the Roofers consolation. Delapre Old Boys sprung a major shock as they knocked the reigning Premier Division Champion, Harlequins out of this year’s prestige’s Gorell Barnes Cup with 4-1 score line. The Delapre strikes were shared between Neil Jarrett, Dan Molyneaux, Luke Dickens and the ever green Wayne Ventour which left Andy Ranft to net the Quins consolation.The ever improving Hitec Roofline overcame Hometech 3-1 courtesy of goals from Dale Evans, Gavin Spencer and Calvin Keable while Craig Dyball hit the target for Hometech. The Thorplands United v Cotton Hill tie produced a cracking game with scores standing at 3-3 after 90 minutes, Cotton finally won through 6-4 after extra time with Nathanial Liburd grabbing a brace to go with singles from Ashford Campbell, Barry Swallow, Dirk Campling, and Martin Feasey. Thorplands scorers were Ryan Crook 2, Dan Oats and Steve Brown.

The students three goal hero was Sam Cormac who was well supported by Tom Lucy who netted twice leaving Russ Aitkin to hot a lone retort for Obelisk.

Steve Hamilton led the scoring for the pub men with a treble and singles from Darren Howlands, Rion Best, Nick Renda, Alan Lovell, Darren Brown plus an own goal completed the rout. A goal each for Andy Hall and James McGill gave the Police hopes however a Twosome from Said Said and strikes from Uche Igwe and Shamus Fitzgerald earned victory for Liberty. University of Northampton Reserves completed a 4-1 success over Corby Strip Mills Reserves with Simon Greathead hitting a three timer to go with a solo effort from Kunal Kumar. Strip Mills replied via Shaun Muir. Harlequins Reserves overcame Thorplands United Reserves 5-1 thanks to double strikes from Shane Ranft and Aaron Bradshaw plus a single from Steve Jeltch.

Ashley Rovers progressed into the next round with an excellent 3-1 victory over Silverstone. Marc Hall hit the target twice and Aaron Rolfe once to earn a place in the 4th round. SPA made the long trip to Peterborough SSPIO and went down by the odd goal in three. The SPA marksman was Martin Kingsnorth.

Reigning Champions Harlequins returned to form after last week’s blip beating high flying Hometech 2-0 thanks to a double strike from Courtney Herbert. Hitec Roofline stay on the heels of the leaders with a 2-1 triumph over Obelisk United 2-1. Terrence Williams hit the target twice for the Roofers which left Tony Linnell to net the Obelisk retort.

A pair from Marcus Reynolds and a solo strike from Hugh McDowell gave Thorplands hope but singles from Scott Bradshaw and Shane Ranft plus a twosome from Ben Smith was enough to gain all three points for the Quins second string. University of Northampton Reserves gained a 4-1 success over Northants Police with Jon Byrnes 2, Ash Marlow and Nathan Hawes getting on the score sheet for the scholars  leaving Sam Gardiner to net the Police consolation. The last three Town League teams left in the NFA Junior Cup all went out to UCL sides. Delapre Old Boys played host to Bugbrooke St Michaels and despite a solo effort from Tom Kirby went down 6-1. Airflow lost out 6-0 to Burton Park Wanderers and Denton made a fruitless journey all the way to UCL Division One leaders Peterborough Northern Star and were hammered 11-0.

A Jordon Kurton strike to go with an own goal was enough for Obelisk to spring a huge surprise result. The speedy Courtney Herbert netted the Quins retort. Cotton Hill hammered Far Cotton Loco 9-2 in their local derby match courtesy of a foursome from Ashford Campbell, two a-piece from Leon Cosford and James Allcock plus a solo effort from Martin Feasey. A Ryan Fowkes double strike accounted for loco’s goals.

Hometech moved three points clear at the summit on the back of a 4-1 triumph over Thorplands United.  Terrence Dunk led the scoring for Hometech with a well taken brace and was well supported with singles from Ashley Gale and Anthony Williams leaving Ryan Crook to hit Thorplands reply. University of Northampton found their scoring boots as they defeated Denton 9-2. Tom Lucy hit the target five times for the students with Casey Walker, Jon Phillips, Lewis Brown and Greg Pitt netting one each. Denton’s marksmen were Gary Fleming and Adrian Cummins.

Ashley Rovers eased to a 4-1 win over Harlequins Reserves thanks to a couple of goals from Marc Hall and one each for Steve Hollis and Aaron Rolfe which left Shane Ranft to hit the Quins consolation. Liberty Stars continue to lead the table after a 10-0 thrashing of hapless Thorplands United Reserves. The Stars goals were shared between Uche Igwe 4, Shamus Fitzgerald 2, Said Said 2, Armed Amba and Thullane Khoza. SPA are hot on Liberty’s heels beating University of Northampton Reserves 7-1. A Marc Hall double and a Simon Finnis single gave Rovers hope however two goals a-piece from Carlos Gittens and Luke Jones plus strikes from Jack French, Bob Lane and Nick Pankewycz saw Buckby coast home. Northants Police tasted success for the first time this term with a 3-1 win over Real Dragoon. Chris Jones, James Atter and Brad Wilson all got on the score sheet for the Police while Ben Turvey hit Dragoon’s retort. Teasil Samuel netted a threesome to go with goals from Jon Byrne, Ian Powell and Nathan Hawes for University of Northampton Reserves in their 6-1 hammering of James King Blisworth ‘A’ who’s only strike came from Scott Burton.

 

Northants F.A. Area Cup –Round 2

 

It was a poor day for the Town League in the Area Cup as all three teams were knocked out. Corby Strip Mills Reserves hit the net three times with Craig Lewis netting a double to go with one from Dan Hargin but still lost out 8-3 to Deanshanger Athletic Reserves. Harlequins made the long journey to Eye Sports & Social Reserves only to lose 4-1 with Heath Johnson scoring for the Quins. Thorplands United Reserves were on the end of an 8-1 thumping at the hands of Yardley Gobion Reserves. Luke McDowell hit Thorplands solitary goal.

 

CHAMPIONS CHARITY SHIELD

 

The Annual Champions Charity Shield match will be played this Wednesday 15TH. October at Spencer F.C. 7.30 kick off. The reigning Champions of the Town League, Harlequins will play the Champions of the Northants Combination, Harpole. Admission will be £3 with £1 concession, with all takings going to the Northants F.A. Swain Benevolent fund for injured players. The match officials will be Referee Chris Knowles, assistants Matt York and Robert Whitehouse and 4th official Richard Gardner. Please come along and support a worthy cause.

Hometech went three points clear at the summit after inflicting a first league defeat of the season on Cotton Hill with a 4-2 score line. Darren Andrew led the scoring for Hometech with a double strike and he was well supported with goals from Ashley Gale and Terrence Dunk. This left Ashley Campbell and James Allcock to reply for Cotton Hill. Reigning Champions Harlequins annihilated Delapre Old Boys 9-1 with ace marksman Lee Wilson helping himself to four goals to go with two a-piece from Rhys Coleman and Andy Ranft plus a solo effort from Ashley Fleming. Delapre’s consolation came via Scott Ramsey. Hitec Roofline and Denton fought out a 3-3 stalemate at Dallington Park. Craig Sampson, Darren McWilliams and Robert Bolton hit the target for the Roofers while Omar Samaloussi, Rob O’Neal and Will Cantrell did likewise for the villagers. Thorplands United got the better of Obelisk United 5-2. Strikes from Lee Abraham and Steve Healey gave Obelisk hope but two goals each for Steve Brown and Alex Duggings plus a single from Garry Munnelly ensured the win for Thorplands. University of Northampton got their season off to a good start with a convincing 4-0 victory over Far Cotton Loco.  Greg Pitt was the hat trick hero for the students and Sam Cormack netted the other goal.

 

DIVISION ONE

Corby Strip Mills Reserves recorded their first success of the new campaign with a 3-1 triumph over James King Blisworth ‘A’. Dan Hargin, Rick Gurvan and Neil McMillan got on the score sheet for Strip Mills which left Micah Pink to net Blisworth’s lone retort. University of Northampton Reserves just edged out Harlequins Reserves by the odd goal in five thanks to a twosome from Simon Greathead and a single from Tesail Samuel while a brace from Aaron Bradshaw accounted for the Quins reply.

 

Northants F.A. Lower Junior Cup –Round 2

 

SPA knocked out Northants Combination outfit Clipson 2-1 courtesy of strikes from Adam Clark and Dan McMahon. Northants Police made a fruitless journey to King Sutton and went down 3-0 while Long Buckby Ravens played host to Gretton who won 3-1 with Carlos Gittens netting Ravens consolation. Ashley Rover beat Milton Reserves 3-2 thanks to a double strike from Marc Hall and a single from Richard Tweed. Nick Renda and Chris Higgins hit the target for Real Dragoon who lost out to Chenecks Reserves 4-2 and Liberty Stars went down 2-0 to Silverstone.

PREMIER DIVISION

 

Hometech moved level top on the back of their 4-1 success over Obelisk United. Matt Augustas, Terrence Dunk, Chris Culley and Dale Whitmore all hit the target for Hometech while a lone Russell Aitkins strike accounted for the Obelisk retort. A Barry Swallow double and a solo effort from James White was enough to give Far Cotton Loco a 3-0 victory over Hitec Roofline. Airflow recorded their first win of the new campaign with a 6-1 triumph against Denton. Jamie Ellis led the scoring with a well taken hat trick and was well supported with singles from Sam Lovell, Dan Healey and Steve O’Brien. Denton’s consolation was converted by Adrian Cummings. Thorplands United got the better of  Delapre Old Boys 7-3 thanks to a threesome from Dan Oakley, a double strike from Ashley Nestor and one a-piece from Steve Brecon and Owen Kingston. Delapre’s marksmen were Mark Partington, Barry Lacey and Tom Kirby.

 

DIVISION ONE

 

A very strong Harlequins Reserve side annihilated Northants Police 12-2 with ace marksman Lee Wilson netting five times to go with a brace from Edgar Anurmkas and singles from Shane Ranft, Andy Ranft, Heath Johnson Gary Lewis and Andy Condon. Ashley Rovers just edged out James King Blisworth ‘A’ by the odd goal in three. A Chris Toner strike gave Blisworth hope but goals from Simon Finnis and Steve Hollis gave victory to Rovers. Liberty Stars made it two wins out of two with an emphatic 6-2 triumph over Corby Stripmills Reserves. Shamus Dustin 2, Dan Williamson, Lynval Da Costa, Gabriel Vincent and Kasor Abdullah all got on the score sheet for Liberty while Shaun Mills and Darren Harrison netted Stripmills reply. SPA kept their 100% record intact after overcoming Long Buckby Ravens 4-3courtesy of a double strike from Pat O’Connell and one each from Keith Simpson and Dan McMahon. The Ravens goals were shared between Ashley Inwood, Nathan Smith and Pat Turney.

 

NORTHANTS F.A. JUNIOR CUP – 1ST.ROUND

Cotton Hill were narrowly beaten by United Counties outfit Raunds Town Reserves 4-3 after extra time.  The Town League side led twice with efforts from James Allcock, Ashford Campbell and Martin Feasey bur eventually lost in the extra period.

Far Cotton Loco got off to a terrific start to the new season as they annihilated Premier Division new comers Millwheel 10-0. Wayne Cockerill and Paul Panter both hit hat tricks with Barry Swallow and Nathan Mason netting twice to put their team on  top of the table. In another high scoring match Hometech romped to a 7-2 victory over Denton. Matt Augustas and Chris Culley led the scoring with a brace apiece while singles from Terrence Dunk, Stephen Monigle and Craig Dyball made up the tally leaving Robert O’Neil to hit the target twice for the villagers. The Far cotton derby match between Cotton Hill and Delapre Old Boy’s saw Cotton Hill run out 5-2 winners courtesy of a double from Martin Feasey and solo strikes from James Allcock, Dirk Campling and Chris Gale. Delapre’s retort came via Luke Dickens and veteran striker Wayne Ventour. Reigning Champions Harlequins hit the ground running with a 5-2 triumph over Airflow. Andy Ranft hit a two timer to go with goals from Rhys Coleman, Dan Clarke and Aaron Myrie. Airflow replied with efforts from Jamie Ellis and Sam Lovell. In a close game Hitec Roofline just edged out Thorplands United by the odd strike in a nine goal thriller. Dan Oaks, James Allberry, Steve Brown and an own goal accounted for Thorplands tally but a Rob Bolton pair and one a piece from Kieran Rolf, Darren McWilliams and Wayne Lancaster was enough to earn the Roofers victory.

 

 

DIVISION ONE

 

Liberty Stars went nap as they beat Real Dragoon 5-0 with Lynval DaCosta scoring a double with the other goals being shared between Said Said, Dustin Fitzgerald and Bright Memasamgo. Long Buckby Ravens recorded a 4-2 success over James King Blisworth ‘A’ with R.Lane, J.French, M.Brownsell and Ashley Inwood all getting on the score sheet while Scott Burton and Ashley Bryon both netted for Blisworth. Corby Stripmills Reserves went down 3-2 to the newly re-formed SPA. Solo strikes from Craig Lewis and Jez Bailey gave Stripmills hope however a goal each from Steve Marston, Pat O’Connell and Chris Pinches was enough for SPA to win all three points.
