Saturday, 25 August 2012

The Doughboys weren't disgraced in this exit against former UCL club Kings Lynn.

The higher grade visitors took early control and went ahead with a 17th minute penalty from ex-Doughboy Jason Turner after Stephen Spriggs been fouled by Lee Gotch.

Spriggs added a 25th minute second for Lynn with a stunning 30 yard free kick and when Danny Beaumont added a third with an 18 yard left footed half volley after 34 minutes the outcome was all but settled.

Craig Lawman replied for the depleted Doughboys in the final minute of the first half, his shot squirming through Alex Street's grasp.

After the interval Gotch cleared off the line from Beaumont while Street made a fine save from Lawman's 25 yard strike.

Daryl Lawman missed a chance to bring Wellingborough back into the match but was later sent off for a challenge on Turner, with Lynn defender Ross Watson also red carded for his part in the subsequent melee.

Wellingborough: Dan Wallis, Nathan Heycock, Ryan Neville, Mick Parkes, Ben Ekins, Lee Gotch, Jordan Pendered, Mark Redding, Craig Lawman, Adam Hancock, Daryl Lawman.
