The Doughboys bounced back from their Vase exit to pick up three valuable league points at the Abbey Lawn.

Steve Blackwood gave Wellingborough a great start with a fourth minute opener, a volley from the edge of the box, and the Dughboys deserved their interval league despite Simon Barrick grazing the bar for Bourne. Debutant Dan Spaughton extended the visitors' advantage five minutes after the break with a stunning strike from 25 yards.

Scott Spearink replied for the Wakes twenty minutes from time and the home side pressed for an equaliser without reward.
