Deeping Rangers 2 Shepshed Dynamo 1
Saturday, 25 August 2012
A late goal sent Dynamo tumbling to a first defeat in their new surroundings.
Deeping looked much the more dangerous side in the opening half but found Shepshed goalkeeper Scott Low in fine form.
Harry Deane, Spencer Tinkler and Michael Byrne, on two occasions, were all left cursing their luck as Low thwarted them.
It was Dynamo who made the 47th minute breakthrough with Kieran Bradshaw breaking clear on the left and drawing James Doughty from goal. Nick Jackson in attempting to clear could only turn the ball into his own net.
Deeping were level with a 56th minute set piece goal, Deane's perfectly placed delivery headed back across goal inside the far post by the unmarked Chris Logan.
Liam Fitzpatrick sent a cross shot fizzing across goal for Shepshed after collecting a Kieran Davies pass, while substitute Justin Jenkins miskicked after Fitzpatrick's flick played him in.
Another great save from Low kept out a David Burton-Jones header, but an 87th minute goal won it for Rangers.
The Shepshed defence only half cleared a corner and Logan's mishit shot fell kindly for Burton-Jones to bundle the ball home from close range.
