Round 1

Sleaford Town  5    Walsham le Willows  1

Saturday, 06 October 2007

The first ever Vase tie at Eslaforde Park saw Sleaford turn on the style to go nap and claim a second Ridgeons League scalp.

An 18th minute goal from Mick Stones, who converted a Jamie Shaw cross, gave Brian Rowland's men a great start and they took a stranglehold on the tie in the run up to half time.

Shaw scored the home side's second goal after 40 minutes and two minutes later they extended their lead with Shaw again the scorer, strike partner Stones the creator on both occasions.

Substitute Ben Harris hit the bar as Sleaford continued to dominate and a minute before the hour Shaw completed his hat trick from Matt Lunn's centre. Substitute Tom Siddons completed the home tally after 84 minutes, turning smartly in the box to fire home.

Mark Wake scored Walsham's 86th minute consolation with a shot which went in off the post.

Sleaford: Andy Scott, Matt Hodgkin, Darren Statham, Jon Machin, Kris Jones, Carl Sedlan, Pete Brothwell (Shaun Popple), Jason Sedlan (Ben Harris), Micky Stones, Jamie Shaw (Tom Siddons), Matt Lunn.
