Yaxley  2    Wootton Blue Cross  2

Saturday, 11 August 2007

New Wootton manager Tony Tinkler could be pleased with an opening day draw after new look Blue Cross twice clawed their way back into the game at Leading Drove.

Prolific marksman Mark Paul netted the first goal of the new EBUCL season after just six minutes to give the Cuckoos a great start, but Blue Cross's Polish striking recruit Krysztof Karpiuk squared the match two minutes before the half hour, heading in a Craig Daniel cross.

Yaxley regained the lead after 66 minutes, Ian Edge the marksman at the far post, but Wootton earned a valuable point through Scott McGregor's 79th minute effort, a neat shot on the turn.

Yaxley: John Feetham, Matt Parrott, Josh Crick (John Treliving), Sam Kingston, Chris Lenton, Jimmy Dean (Danny Steward), Ian Edge, Lee Blewett, Mark Paul, Ricky Hailstone, Andy Chatters (Mario Palazzo).

Wootton: Daniel Freeman, Danny Marsh, Ishmael George, Sam Dawe, Tom Hole, Scott McGregor, Craig Daniel, Anish Khinda (Paul McKeaveney), Gavin Batt (Jamie Cole), Krysztof Karpiuk, Krysztof Matieskiewicz (Josh Bamford).
