Stewarts & Lloyds Corby  2    St Neots Town  4

Saturday, 29 September 2007

Managerless St Neots picked up a valuable Occupation Road win thanks to a late double strike from Barrington Belgrave.

The visitors weathered heavy home pressure in the early minutes with Paul Doherty ruled offside after netting when Dom Johnson's effort was tipped onto the post by Martyn Patching. Sean Brennan then hit the woodwork before Doherty gave S&L the lead twenty five minutes in with a headr from a Johnson cross.

A foul by Tony Russell on Doherty gave S&L the chance to increase their advantage but Brennan struck his kick against the post. That miss proved costly as Mark Franklin levelled a minute with before the interval with a speculative thirty yard strike.

Caretaker boss Ivan Finch put the Saints in front after 62 minutes after Richard Lavin parried Arin Fehmi's shot but parity was restored three minutes later by a Mark Forbes spot kick, awarded for a foul by Jon Hoggett.

With five minutes to play Belgrave's fifth goal of the season, a fierce shot which beat Lavin at his near post, put St Neots back in front and number six followed two minutes later as the speedy striker sealed victory for the visitors after good work by Jon Hoggett.
