The Romans crashed to a fifth defeat in succession as Rushden & Higham collected their second league victory.

The visitors made a great start to this Alfred Street derby, Dave Townsend's third minute opener followed just five minutes later by a second from Gary Broadway.

Two goals in sixty seconds wrapped up the visitors' win just before the hour mark. Kris Hall scored the third after 56 minutes and was joined on the scoresheet by manager Jim Le Masurier sixty seconds later.

Irchester put some respectability in the scoreline with two consolation efforts. Player coach Simon Henry netted for the Romans after 64 minutes with Dan Turickki reducing the arrears further six minutes from the end.
