Long Buckby  3    Northampton Spencer  1

Tuesday, 25 September 2007

Spencer suffered their first league defeat of the season as the Bucks ran out derby winners at Station Road.

Jon Crockett's 14th minute goal, a header after Richard Bunting's corner was nodded back across goal by Carl Holmes, had Buckby in front at the interval. Karl Bates hit the woodwork for the Millers before the break and Josh Urquhart equalised a minute past the hour with a close range effort.

Eight minutes later Ben Foster's penalty, awarded for handball, restored Buckby's lead and they clinched victory with an 89th minute effort from Carl Holmes, a chip after a misunderstanding between defender and keeper.

Long Buckby: Martyn Margarson, Dan Burke, Stuart Smeathers, Darren Harmon, Danny Duggan, Jon Crockett, Ryan Nash, Richard Bailey, Carl Holmes, Ben Foster, Richard Bunting.

Spencer: Paul Sheridan, Simon McCarthy (Chris Kirby), Josh Urquhart, Ian Giles, Jamie Langley, Pete Gregory, Scott Marshall, Phil Cassidy, Karl Bates, Matt Collins (Tommy Stratford), Chris Davies.
