Stewarts & Lloyds Corby  2    Deeping Rangers  6

Tuesday, 25 September 2007

Champions Deeping found their goal touch with a vengeance to demolish high riding hosts Stewarts & Lloyds at Occupation Road.

Lee Ellison's 8th minute opener for Rangers from the penalty spot after Danny Matson was brought down was followed by a Matson brace after 30 and 33 minutes, his first a long range effort which went in off the underside of the bar and his second afar post tap in.

Paul Djeneralovic gave S&L a glimmer of hope a minute before the break with a well executed volley from a free kick, but Matson completed his hat trick after 65 minutes.

Dominic Johnson closed the gap with S&L's second goal after 70 minutes, but it was Deeping who finished the contest the stronger. New signing Kevin Ward scored their fifth goal after 80 minutes, latching onto Danny Bircham's long clearance to score with Andy Ellis having the last word in the final minute, a fine solo effort.
