Quorn 1 Deeping Rangers 1
Saturday, 18 August 2012
Ten man Quorn battled well to earn a point from their first UCL match.
Rangers had the better of the opening period and it needed a couple of good saves by home custodian Andrew Simpson to keep Spencer Tinkler and Alex Beck off the scoresheet.
The home side lost their keeper, dismissed for a handball outside the box late in the first half, and their uphill task became steeper when Michael Byrne fired Rangers ahead from the resulting free kick three minutes before the break.
Quorn made light of the man disadvantage in the second half though, and summer signing Luke Edwards earned them a point with a 72nd minute equaliser after coming off the bench. The replacement was well placed to finish from Nathan Watson's delivery to the near post.
Quorn: Andrew Simpson, Kaleen Thomas, Joe Shaw, Kris Mathews, Dean Whiley, Dean Gemt, Nathan Watson, Wade Ball (Denis Moran), Kris Nurse, Liam Turner (Luke Edwards), Tyrone Kirk.
Deeping: James Doughty, Lawrence Lambley, Nick Jackson, Chris Logan, Steve Julian, Spencer Tinkler, Harry Deane, David Burton-Jones, Michael Byrne, Ciaron Holt, Alex Beck (Kevin Brader).
