Sleaford Town 1 Cogenhoe United 2
Saturday, 18 August 2012
Cogenhoe bounced back from their FA Cup exit to make a winning start to the league campaign on a ground where they're now unbeaten in six visits.
Liam Tunstall struck the frame of the goal for Sleaford early on while Joe Braithwaite had a header from a corner blocked on the line.
Darren Frost's tenth minute goal from a break on the left had the Cooks ahead at the break, and the woodwork denied the same player a second.
A goalline clearance from Jamie Russell denied Tony Edwards a home leveller.
Tunstall hauled Town on terms with a great goal after 80 minutes. The striker cut in from the left to fire over keeper James Stirling.
Parity proved short lived as the home defence failed to deal with a long ball six minutes later and Frost controlled, turned and fired home to sink Sleaford who finished the contest with nine men, Nick Bishop and Edwards the men red carded.
Right at the end Sleaford had penalty appeals turned down.
