Fancied Spalding's summer striking acquisitions came good as the Tulips notched up an opening day victory.
They had to turn the game round after conceding a fifth minute opener to Walnut Boys striker Drew Phillips who netted a powerful header from an Ash Farmer cross.
Widely travelled front man Francis Green equalised after 29 minutes, collecting a Shane Tolley pass and steering a low drive inside the far post. Green followed up with a second Tulips goal from a Jay Smedley free kick two minutes later.
Ex-St Neots man Tolley made it three for Spalding after 35 minutes, netting from close range.
A spirited Kempston display saw them get back in the game through Farmer's great strike from 25 yards after 59 minutes.
Substitute Jacob Joyce clinched the home victory with a well taken goal in the second minute of time added.
