Extra Preliminary Round
Soham Town Rangers 5 St Neots Town 2
Saturday, 18 August 2007
The Saints saw a two goal lead disappear as their hosts fought back to go nap.
Mark Franklin gave St Neots a 29th minute lead after collecting a Jon Hoggett pass and outpacing the home defence. John Coley added a second three minutes later, running from the halfway line after Hoggett and Ryan Francis combined.
When the home side replied Saints keeper Roy Bloxham saved an Andy Furnell spot kick.
Paul Jones broke through from midfield to reply for Soham on the stroke of half time and the contest turned dramatically in their favour in the opening quarter of an hour of the second half.
Charles Libam levelled after 50 minutes with a curling shot and three minutes later Andy Furnell gave Soham the lead with a penalty awarded for handball.
The Saints' prospects of progress all but disappeared two minutes before the hour when marksman Coley was red carded after protesting when visiting penalty appeals went unheard. Soham added further goals from Jones on 71 minutes and Libam on 83, another penalty awarded for handball.
St Neots: Roy Bloxham, Ivan Finch, Mark Barry (Dave Fisk), Jon Hoggett, Tony Russell, Tom Moran, Mark Franklin, Ashley Deverell (Craig Reynolds), Steve Kuhne (James Osborne), John Coley, Ryan Francis.
