Thrapston provided stern opposition for Rangers at Outgang Road but ultimately came off second best.

The visitors were close to an early goal but the woodwork denied Jamie Russell a 25 yard opener.

Josh Moreman's 26th minute debut goal, a far post header after a good run and cross by Mark Jones, proved sufficient to make it a winning start for Deeping.

Tony Battersby also netted for Rangers but was ruled offside.
