Spalding's recent good run was halted in its tracks at Willen Road as the Swans found their goal touch to extend their own fine run of results.
A great start by Newport saw Daren Dykes open the scoring from close range after six minutes.
Keith Williams struck the post for the Swans before Dom Lawless doubled the home advantage with a well struck volley from a Dykes cross after 18 minutes.
Prolific marksman Greg Smith replied for the Tulips after 39 minutes with a low shot under the goalkeeper, but within two minutes the two goal margin was restored by Dykes who curled a shot home from the edge of the box.
A 55th minute Sean McBride goal, after Nick Conroy mishandled in the visiting goal. tightened Newport's grip on the points and the scoring was completed by Dykes' third of the afternoon at full stretch in the last minute of the match.
