The Romans kicked off the new season by doing something they couldn't manage in the whole of last term - winning away from home.

It looked a familiar story for Irchester when Burton took the lead on the quarter hour through Andy Greensmith, but on the half hour Irchester levelled through Dan Richardson.

Irchester edged ahead ten minutes into the second half, Dean King marking his debut with a well worked goal goal, and on the hour Marcus Wharton wrapped up their success on the road firing low into the corner.

Burton: Lee Brydon, Spencer Newcombe (Matt Clarke), John Macleod (Mick Titcomb), Michael Coles, Andy Lambert, Andy Greensmith, Gary Owen, Byron Brown, Mike Houghton, Marcus Keirle, Luke McIlroy (Danny Darker).
