United Counties Football League
2007-2008 Season

Division One

Huntingdon Town  3    Thrapston Town  1

Saturday, 18 August 2007

Huntingdon are kicking off the season with an almost completely new team, but it was one of the few survivors from last season's squad, Frenchman Alyou Coaney, who turned this game in their favour.

Lee Garvie had a penalty saved by visiting keeper John Kyte after Richard Moore was fouled.

Thrapston, buoyed by an unbeaten pre-season, took the lead in the final minute of the first half through Paul Norton, and they held the lead until a quarter of an hour from time when Coaney squared the game from a set piece.

Five minutes later Danny White gave Huntingdon the lead, rounding off a flowing move, and Coaney sealed a first win for new manager Darren Young by scoring a third with four minutes remaining, rounding the goalkeeper to hit the target.
