Monday, 24 March 2008

The Lankies won for the first time since the Latimer Park meeting of the clubs on Boxing Day to move three points clear of their victims.

A Dave Townsend penalty gave the home side a 21st minute advantage after Curtis Long was fouled but with nine minutes remaining Jamie Poole hauled Burton on terms to reward visiting pressure.

Rushden & Higham were not to be denied and won the contest through David Kew's 86th minute effort after Townsend's header from a Ben Lord cross came back off the crossbar.

Rushden: Michael Freeman, Ben Lord, Tom Woods, Wayne Abbott, Lee Dorrington, Danny Bird, Dave Townsend, Steve Ainge (Gary Broadway), Dave Kew (Kris Hall), Curtis Long, Craig Harrower.
