Peterborough Northern Star  1    Daventry Town  1

Saturday, 22 March 2008

Star halted the newly crowned champions' 22 match winning run as Town lost points for the first time since the season's opening day.

The home side went ahead after 17 minutes through Ryan Francis,  who collected an Alan Haine cross and rounded Chris Godwin before firing home. Ali Nyang was denied a second Star goal by the post after a flowing move just a couple of minutes later.

Richard Wesley equalised for Daventry after 26 minutes with his eighteenth goal of the campaign, pouncing to score after the home defence failed to clear Ryan Byrne's free kick.

The champions put Star under heavy pressure in the second half but were unable to press home their advantage, top scorer Tom Berwick twice going close in the closing stages.
