Daventry Town 5 Daventry United 0
Saturday, 15 September 2007
This eagerly awaited Daventry derby saw Town run riot at Communications Park.
It took Town just six minutes to take the lead through Paul Saunders who converted a Danny Finlay pass and top scorer Tom Berwick added a second after 21 minutes.
United suffered a setback when keeper Andy Millard had to be replaced after suffering an ankle injury
Richard Wesley's 55th minute effort all but wrapped up progress for Town, with the woodwork denying Jamie Jollands a United reply. Town made the winning margin more emphatic with further goals from Chris Godwin after 85 minutes, a tap in from and Finlay's lay off, and in the final minute Finlay scored a deserved goal himself after Berwick and Todd Sawko combined.
