Peterborough Perkins  2    Whitworths  3

Saturday, 15 September 2007

The Flourmen made impressive progress at the expense of the Peterborough League tabletoppers whose late fightback proved in vain.

James Daldy gave the Flourmen the lead two minutes before the interval and he doubled Whitworths' lead ten minutes into the second half.

Carlton Ellwood, who had earlier struck the bar from 30 yards, added a third goal twenty minutes from time after Devon Ellwood and Luke Raftery combined, before a Perkins fightback brought goals after 80 and 89 minutes to make it an anxious finale for Joe Smythe's men.

The home side's first came when Anthony Sharp's attempted clearance struck team mate Kris Line and and deflected into the net while Isaac Twigden scored a second for Perkins.

Whitworths: Craig Patterson, Anthony Sharp, James Gorman, Kris Line, Luke Raftery (Brendan Bivens), Gary Clark, Dan Spaughton, Matt Freeman (Devon Ellwood), James Daldy (Cavell jarvs), Carlton Ellwood, Paul Smith.
