Cogenhoe United  2    Long Buckby  1

Tuesday, 26 February 2008

The mid table Cooks inflicted a potentially fatal blow to Buckby's title ambitions with this derby success at Compton Park.

Ben Foster gave Buckby a 17th minute lead, outpacing a defender and beating Darren Watts with a left footed shot, but it was namesake Rob who was the matchwinner on the night. He levelled for Cogenhoe after 25 minutes after evading three challenges and scored what proved to be the deciding goal ten minutes into the second half following a quick counter attack.

By then the visitors were down to ten men after Darren Lynch was dismissed for a bad challenge on Nick Ashby.

Cogenhoe: Darren Watts, Lewis Kelly (Rob Goldring), Jack Ashton, Nick Ashby, Adam Knight, Lee Gotch, Dan Thomason, Neil Champelovier, Rob Foster, Zac Nedimovic, Tom McGowan.

Long Buckby: Farhad Afandiyev, Stuart Smeathers, Craig Kelly, Darren Harmon, Danny Duggan (Jason Lee), Jon Crockett, Ryan Nash (Dan Burke), Richard Bunting, Darren Lynch, Ben Foster, Carl Holmes.
