Irchester United  0    Daventry Town  4

Saturday, 23 February 2008

Town made it twenty wins on the bounce with this predictable success at Alfred Street, but in the early stages they were indebted to keeper Joe Mellings for some good saves.

Paul Saunders scored at the second attempt after 22 minutes after home custodian Warren Courtney tipped his initial shot onto the post, to give the pacesetters the interval lead.

Daventry sealed the win on resumption. Division One top scorer Tom Berwick extended the lead after 52 minutes, converting a spot kick after Danny Nelson was brought down and when Nelson made it three after 65 minutes after Berwick's shot was saved the champions elect were home and dry.

Jamie O'Grady completed the scoring after 77 minutes, netting an angled volley from a Richard Wesley pass.
