United Counties Football League

Division One

Daventry Town  3    Huntingdon Town  1

Saturday, 16 February 2008

Daventry extended their winning run to nineteen games but were given a few scares along the way by a Huntingdon side whose promotion prospects are receding weekly at the moment.

Top scorer Tom Berwick gave Daventry a twelfth minute lead, converting a Paul Saunders cross from six yards but nine minutes later Chris Caswell levelled from the penalty spot after Lee Bassett was fouled by Chris Godwin.

Saunders restored the home lead twelve minutes before the interval with a left foot volley but Huntingdon remained in the hunt until seven minutes from time when Berwick took his season's goal tally to 22 by scoring from the spot after being fouled by a defender himself.
