Saturday, 02 February 2008
The Lankies' strong finish to the game earned them a place in the Junior Cup final in the club's first post merger season.
Michael Freeman in the home goal made a couple of good saves in the opening period as Woodford started brightly.
After a goalless first half Dave Townsend gave Rushden & Higham a 47th minute lead from Jason Kew's crossfield pass, but the Reds levelled on the hour through Steve Woodford who fired home from the edge of the box following a corner.
Quarter final hero Kris Hall again proved the matchwinner for the Lankies. He restored their advantage with a 75th minute effort, turning to fire home after a strong run by Steve Ainge, and doubled the margin six minutes later, heading in at the near post after Ainge and Danny Bird combined.
Substitute Stefan Morris completed the scoring in the final minute.
