Fancied Bugbrooke made a winning start to the new campaign despite having summer recruit Damon Herbert dismissed early in the second half.

Dave Drinkwater headed the Badgers into a fifth minute lead from Damon Herbert's centre after the visitors brooke quickly from a home corner and Nick Ling made the points safe for the ten men after 69 minutes, converting a Mick Parkes free kick.

Wootton pressed forward late on in search of a way back into the game and the woodwork kept out a 30 yard effort from Steve Muggridge and a Chris Reeves header.
