Saturday, 19 January 2008
Premier Division leaders Stotfold opened up a four point lead at the top after handing visiting Wootton a drubbing in their Bedfordshire derby at Roker.
A stunning first half display by the Eagles saw them run in five goals in the opening twenty five minutes to wrap up the win.
Dan Douglas marked his first Stotfold start with a fifth minute opener, a volley from a right wing cross by Ricky Case, and six minutes later Luke Donnelly doubled the lead with a low shot from the right hand side of the box.
Case put his name on the scoresheet after fourteen minutes, netting at the second attempt after Douglas's header set up the chance. Douglas scored his second three minutes later, heading in a Case pass.
Donnelly netted his second after 25 minutes, heading home from a corner, with Mo Banda replying for Blue Cross from a flag kick ten minutes before the interval.
Case became Stotfold's third two goal marksman of the afternoon in the first minute of the second half , following up to score after Lee Allinson's shot was cleared off the line by Jack Sibbons, and the goal spree was completed by Allinson after 53 minutes after Donnelly knocked down a Paul Garrett corner.
