The Doughboys completed an eight day double over the Swans with this Willen Road success.

A goalless first half saw plenty of chances with Drew Mitten going close for Newport and ex-Swan Vinny Shrieves off target for the Doughboys who were closest to a goal when Rob Gould hit the post.

Adam Hancock broke the deadlock with Wellingborough's 53rd minute opener, a header from a right wing cross from Alfie Taylor, and three minutes later Luke Dowling added a second, another header, from a Tim Wooding corner.

The woodwork denied Shrieves a goalscoring return to Willen Road while Mitten, Martin Kelly and Elliott O'Reilly had chances to put Newport back in the game.

The visitors have now won three in a row.

Newport: Stuart Dorrill, Joe Bigo, Rob Lock, Lee Tinsley, Mark Bone, Elliott O'Reilly (Michael Riley), Scott Mulkern, Richard Armstrong, Rob Macdonald, Drew Mitten, Martin Kelly (Andy Cleere).

Wellingborough: Alex Malong, Tim Wooding, Adam Randall, Luke Dowling (James Lister), Rob Gould, Alfie Taylor (David Glass), Dan Spaughton, Jed Ainge, Vinny Shrieves, Jon Mitchell, Adam Hancock.
