Saturday, 05 January 2008
Newport's poor run of results continued as they came off second best to mid table hosts Wellingborough.
The Doughboys went ahead with a scrambled first minute Jon Mitchell goal.
Lee Tinsley's 64th minute own goal under pressure from Adam Hancock doubled Wellingborough's lead before Scott Mulkern reduced the deficit with a 71st minute reply for the Swans after Peter Rowe created the opening.
Six minutes later Jed Ainge scored a third Doughboys goal, a stunning strike from outside the box, but Mulkern kept Newport in the hunt with his second goal ten minutes from time, another quality strike from distance.
