Tuesday, 14 August 2007

The Eagles moved to the top of the table after outgunning their hosts in an eight goal second half at Kiln Park, while the Shopmates are still waiting to get off the mark this term.

Three goals in six minutes put Stotfold in charge after a scoreless first half. Callum Donnelly broke the deadlock after 53 minutes, netting after home keeper Mike Hearn saved from Paul Garrett. Garrett adding a second goal himself four minutes later with a lob over the stranded keeper. Lee Allinson made it three a minute before the hour with a diving header from Callum Donnelly's cross but the Shopmates cut the deficit through Danny Frid after 65 minutes, the striker heading in a James Willmott free kick.

When Ian Morrison restored Stotfold's three goal margin with a full blooded volley from the edge of the box with just thirteen minutes to play the contest seemed over, but the visitors had to endure a nerve racking finish as Callum Ridgway scored a second Raunds goal with Frid following up with a third for the Shopmates on 89 minutes.

Stotfold wrapped up their victory a minute into stoppage time with Garrett's second goal of the night, a shot frot from the left.
