Romford  2    St Ives Town  4

Saturday, 22 December 2007

St Ives moved into the last 32 of the Vase for the first time with a superb win over their in form Essex Senior League hosts.

Scott Fielding gave St Ives the lead after 22 minutes with a great strike from 35 yards and they took a stranglehold on the game with two further goals in the closing stages of the first half.

Fielding scored his second goal after 39 minutes, latching onto Graeme Thackray's through pass and finishing confidently on a one on one with the home keeper and with two minutes of the half remaining Lloyd Howard gave the Saints a three goal lead, heading in after the home keeper had thwarted Fielding.

When Thackray set up Fielding's hat trick goal five minutes into the second half St Ives were in dreamland, although Romford rallied with a Scott Walsh header from a corner after 52 minutes and a second from Bradley Jones in a goalmouth scramble from a free kick after 66 minutes.
