Injury hit Wellingborough bounced back from their FA Cup exit to inflict a first league defeat of the season on St Ives.
Simon Claridge was denied an opener by John Hughes in the visiting goal.
Richard Thompson gave the Doughboys the lead after 24 minutes, converting a Matt Green cross, with defender Rob Gould adding a decisive second three minutes into the second period.
Wellingborough were denied two further goals by the woodwork, while Will Fordham shaved the post with a free kick for the Saints in the second half.
