Long Buckby 3 Heath Hayes 2
Saturday, 08 December 2007
Buckby reached the last 32 of the FA Vase for the first time.
It seemed plain sailing for Buckby as they took an early two goal lead. Ryan Nash opened the scoring after eighteen minutes, converting Ben Foster's cross from the left which was cleverly dummied by Carl Holmes to create the opening. Leading scorer Foster added a second four minutes later, latching on to Jon Crockett's through pass and outpacing the visiting defender to fire home.
Heath Hayes fought back with Alan Haycock reducing the arrears from twelve yards after 34 minutes after a clearance by Bucks keper Farhad Afandiyev was charged down and Carl Wallace levelled three minutes before the interval, smashing home a loose ball.
Second half Buckby pressure saw Heath keeper France pull off a string of fine saves to thwart Foster and Nash.
Foster won the tie for the Bucks twenty minutes from time, pouncing to net after a Holmes volley from a Crockett flick on was saved by the visiting keeper.
