Bourne Town  5    AFC Kempston Rovers  2

Saturday, 01 December 2007

The Wakes moved out of the relegation zone with this win over a Kempston side now falling way behind their ivals in distress.

The Walnut Boys took a 23rd minute lead through Sanjay Mall's lobbed effort, but their hopes suffered a setback when Matt Hulett was red carded for a professional foul on Ian Cooper who saw his spot kick saved. Liam Palmer hauled the Wakes on terms eleven minutes before the break, Robbie Pearce creating the opening.

Bourne took a stranglehold on the game on resumption. The returning Stewart Smith put them in front from close range after 50 minutes with Palmer adding to the Wakes tally four minutes later after jinking past two defenders.

Rob Lindsay's 68th minute close range headed goal put Kempston back in contention but Smith scored his second from a Steve Hipkiss cross after 83 minutes and Simon Barrick made it five a minute into stoppage time with a scrappy close range strike.
