Northampton Sileby Rangers 2 Peterborough Northern Star 2
Saturday, 01 December 2007
After losing their last five games Rangers almost produced the upset of the day in Division One.
Star took a second minute lead through Karl Gibbs, but Rangers replied after 18 minutes, Sam Callear the marksman after dispossessing Star keeper Marcin Lubniewski and slotting home from a tight angle. Lewis Haycock was denied by the post before the interval.
Just past the hour mark Star defender Paul Hill was red carded.
When Tim Clack gave Rangers an 86th minute lead from the penalty spot following a handball an upset looked in prospect and Lubniewski kept Star in the contest, turning a Dave McIvor shot onto the post.
Star made the most of that reprieve when Mohamed Sohail equalised from close range at the far post from a Nathan Horne cross three minutes into time added on.
