Peterborough Northern Star 1 Daventry United 2
Saturday, 14 January 2012
The Motormen collected a first win at Star as they eased their relegation fears with a vital victory.
Star dominated the opening half but missed openings galore with Karl Gibbs, Addie Staffieri and Avelino Vieira all thwarted by impressive United custodian Anthony O'Connor.
Tommy Waldock, returning from injury, gave United a 49th minute advantage with a well placed 20 yard effort.
Staffieri's penalty, awarded after he was brought down by O'Connor, put Star on terms six minutes later.
The visitors were not to be denied and turned one point into three in the final minute, Leon Edwards the matchwinner converting a cut back from the by line.
