St Neots Town  1    Northampton Spencer  1

Saturday, 17 November 2007

St Neots regained pole position in the Premier despite an indifferent performance at home to a Spencer side anchored in the bottom half of the table.

Kevin Slinn was denied a Spencer opener by home keeper Jon Chatfield's fingertip save, but St Neots took a 13th minute lead when a corner was played short to the near post by Mark Franklin for Ivan Finch to slide home - the co-manager's second goal in successive matches.

Kevin Ashby's overhead effort was deflected against the crossbar for St Neots but late in the half Sencer took charge with Darren Frost narrowly off target with curling free kick and Scott Marshall firing against the frame of the home goal.

With 16 minutes of a low key second half remaining Frost burst clear on the right and his shot from a narrow angle squirmed under Chatfield to even the score.
