Huntingdon Town 2 Daventry United 3
Saturday, 01 September 2007
A late penalty decider gave United their first win in the lower grade following their relegation.
Huntingdon kicked off the search for a third successive win with the opening goal from Nicki Young who scored direct from a corner after eight minutes but the second half belonged to United.
Richard Pannell hit the post shortly after the restart but equalised after 63 minutes after rounding the keeper. Ten minutes later Tommy Waldock gave the visitors the lead, collecting Duncan Harris's through pass and firing home from 30 yards.
Huntingdon produced an immediate response with Danny White restoring parity within sixty seconds by converting a cross from the left, but United were not to be denied and took all three points with an 84th minute spot kick from Allan Haynes after Waldock was fouled by Lee Booker.
