Deeping Rangers  0    Dereham Town  0

Saturday, 01 September 2007

These two sides scored seventeen goals between them in their Extra Preliminary Round victories, promping the FA to select this game as tie of the round for their website but this Outgang Road tie saw both draw a blank. Rangers now face a tricky midweek replay in Norfolk.

Dereham keeper Shaun Marshall made two fine saves from Sam Bettinson and Danny Matson in the first half.

Deeping had the bulk of the possession and were closest to winning the tie at the first attempt when Bettinson struck the crossbar twenty minutes from time. Matson later missed the clearest chance of the game.

Rangers did have an escape though when Ollie Willis went down under goalkeeper Danny Bircham's challenge and visiting appeals for a spot kick fell on deaf ears.

Deeping: Danny Bircham, John Paul Duncliffe, Scott Woods, Ben Daly, Matt Porter, Michael Goode, Mark Kingston, Lee Ellison, Sam Bettinson (Nick Jones), Danny Matson, Andy Ellis.
