Star breezed to victory at Alfred Street with the loss of their goalkeeper Simon Ames through injury at the break hardly helping the struggling Romans.
Karl Gibbs gave Star a first minute lead with a header from a Phil Anderson corner and Steve Thompson added a second on the half hour in a carbon copy of the opener.
Gibbs quickly completed his hat trick on resumption with goals after 47 and 49 minutes, both from Steve Phillips flick ons, with Scott Quinney joining the spree two minutes later with a header. Gibbs went nap with further goals after 57 and 80 minutes. Paul Hill completed the scoring in the last minute of the match, turning in Chris Plummer's header.
The Romans' miserable afternoon was compounded by the dismissal of substitute Simon Henry after just ten minutes on the pitch.
