Stotfold  4    Raunds Town  2

Tuesday, 16 October 2007

Stotfold overcame a spirited challenge from bottom club Raunds to complete a double and return to winning ways after three successive cup defeats.

FA Cup hot shot Joel Mason found his goal touch in domestic football with a three goal haul. He netted his first on the quarter hour, tapping in from Paul Garrett's corner, but the Shopmates levelled four minutes later through Jamie Russell.

Mason restored the Eagles' advantage three minutes before the interval after beating Shopmates goalkeeper Chris Jones to a Bobby Dance through ball, and he completed his hat trick ten minutes into the second half, slotting home after his header from Garrett's cross came back off the bar.

Raunds fought back with a low Josh Davis shot just inside the far post after 56 minutes keeping them in the contest but Lee Allinson sealed Stotfold's victory a minute from time after punishing a poor clearance.
