Northampton Spencer  1    Holbeach United  0

Saturday, 11 August 2007

Holbeach are among the title favourites after bringing in a host of talented summer recruits, but the Tigers have always found Kingsthorpe Mill a tough place to earn any reward.

A 33rd minute goal from Darren Frost, who cut in front the left to score off the far post, proved enough to give Steve Jelley's men all three points and an eleventh win in the fixture in twelve seasons.

Late in the game a handball by Matt Warfield, who was red carded, saw Spencer awarded a penalty but Nicky Conroy saved Frost's spot kick.

Spencer: Shaun Markie, Gaston Guei, Josh Urquhart, Simon McCarthy, Dan Chilton, Pete Gregory, Phil Cassidy, Chris Davies (Chris Kirby), Karl Bates, Matt Collins (Jim Leah), Darren Frost (Steve Jelley).

Holbeach: Nicky Conroy, Mark Thompson, Matt Warfield, Nick Keeble, Rob Greetham, Phil Barnes (Ross Nichols), Andy Stanhope, Matt Oswin, Liam Nimmo, Tommy Treacher (Omar Joof), Adam Jackson.
