Club History Formerly known as Woodthorpe Inn Football Club the club adopted its current title in 1989 when they changed their headquarters to the Parkhouse Hotel, Danesmoor. The title was also an acknowledgement to the old Parkhouse Colliery and the many men that had worked there over the years and who too had a number of successful teams in the forties and early fifties by that name. The club had a successful first season on the field winning the Chesterfield & District Sunday Football League, Division Seven. It was also a successful first year off the field when the club introduced their fund raising Tote Draw. The tote enabled the club to move forward in a capacity previously unknown in local football and it became, and still is, popular around the district. The early nineties though proved a mediocre period for the club with them enjoying little success on the football front apart from securing the Clark Turner Shield in 1993. It was also in that year that the club purchased the field to become sole owners of the 3.4 acres. The sum of £8,000 was secured by four club trustees: Dave Clark, Ron Lunn, Wayne Watson and Mick Golding. The transfer of the land was finally signed over on 17 June 1993. This offered future security for the club. Over the next three years further development took place that included fencing around the land perimeter, drainage installed, a brick store and dugouts. As runners up in Division Four in 1996 the club was promoted to Division Two and reached the top flight in the 2000/2001 season. In that season the club reached the final of the Derbyshire Sunday Senior Cup and lost by a narrow 1-0 margin to Doe Lea F.C. Saturday football was the next step and the club joined the Hope Valley Premier League in August 2002. Paul Murtagh was the new manager and Stuart Wall was his assistant and what a partnership it proved to be. During their three year spell in that league the club won a total of four trophies and were twice runners up - ending our last season in that league as champions. In August 2005 they steered the club in another direction and switched the Hope Valley League for the Midlands Regional Alliance. We were placed in Division Two for the first season and stormed to the championship. We also won the Junior Cup and the Derbyshire Divisional (North) Cup to make it a memorable treble winning season. After promotion to Division One we became league champions for a third consecutive season and Junior Cup winners for the second consecutive season. When the club opted to move into the Central Midlands League it was a requirement to have changing facilities on the ground so we adapted four porta-kabin's to meet that requirement. Since that time our committee has worked tirelessly to upgrade our facilities every season and in the summer break of 2009 we have completed our new ‘PCS Enclosure’ that will now keep around seventy supporters dry from the elements on match-days. The 2009/10 season also sees a new management partnership of Paul Murtagh and Mark Wood due to Stuart concentrating his skill and effort into the coaching side of the club. The expansion of football in the community is always one of our main priorities and we are now proud to have the first team, Under 16’s and Under 12’s team flying the flag for Clay Cross.
Public Transport The nearest Train Station is Chesterfield and buses leave from the side of the Information Centre that is situated at the side of the famous ‘Crooked Spire’ Church. On Saturdays the bus is No 51 and they leave every 10 minutes with Danesmoor as their advertised destination. The jpurney is 5 miles, takes approximately 20 minutes at a cost of £2.30 one-way. Anyone using that service should ask the driver for Rock Crescent, Holmgate and when getting off at the end of Rock Crescent & Coupe Lane the ground is 200 yards away [it is visible from the bus when turning the corner onto Rock Crescent.
